You put it on when you put on your dress.

EDIT : However, me and my fi are doing a little skit.. so I’ll run to the restroom and my mothers/bms will help me put things in my garter.. or other places under my dress [we might use a basket or something as my dress has alot of poof].

Basically, my fi will be under my dress and he’ll pull out random objects and say funny things about them.. like he’ll pull out a remote and be like, Oh thats where that went! ect.

I put mine on when I got dressed. I had one given to me just because it’s tradition but my husband didn’t want to do a garter toss.

I’m kinda glad he didn’t because with dancing etc and wearing a big dress it got a bit icky and sweaty! I don’t usually sweat a lot but there is sooo much fabric under some wedding skirts the normal air circulation just doesn’t happen!

I would probably recommend sneaking away and putting it on not too long before the garter toss if you are going to dance a lot and want whoever catches it not to be thinking ‘ew this is a bit moist!’

@SharlaK:  ‘ew this is a bit moist!’

HA!! That line just made my night.

I’m not wearing a garter or doing the toss, but I agree with SharlaK… I’d probably just sneek off right before to put it on.
