I am having black tie optional. I think that is the most common of all the weddings I’ve been to.

Black tie required.  For men that don’t have tuxes you will be turned away. JK.  A dark suit will be acceptable.  Obviously if someone doesn’t come dressed appropriately, it will only be their loss (or embarrassment) if any.  I am going to be having a great time regardless.

Semi Formal 🙂 Mostly because I know everyone will be wearing dresses/skirts/slacks and a nice shirt. I HOPE no one shows up at my wedding in jeans. I’ll be pretty upset!

cocktail attire, which i am hoping everyone understands as cocktail dresses for the women and suits for the men.

We’re having a brunch so it would be assumed that “sundays best” dress/skirt/slacks would be appropriate but I’ve already found resolve with the fact that we’ll probably have people show up in jeans…. =/

“Smart casual”. Basically just one step above casual.

Our venue has a dress code so it’s going to be business casual.

@napabridekelsey: About where we were. Most of the guys wore slacks and button down shirt, and the girls dresses or skirts. When asked about dress, I just said “Don’t really care, but please no jeans.”

Our wedding is pretty casual, however I woudl think that no one would show up to the wedding in jeans/shorts/clubwear.  I would hope everyone would know better than that!!  I’m not too worried, our group of friends love an excuse to dress up and buy a new dress or shirt/tie combo! Not going to worry about it though, least of my worries becuase I’m getting married next month (WOO!)

@Miss Tattoo: Tats is that what you are going to put on the invite?  Although its great for guys (they have such few ways to go wrong).  As a corporette, however, if those were the instructions I would show up in something more businessy (aka a work dress, skirt and blouse, slacks and cardigan) and less festive.  Do tell!

Ours was ‘semi-formal’, with the note that it was on the beach. Nobody showed up in jeans except our horrible wedding coordinator!

We need to start a regional base-line expected attire thread.  Like in Houston what would most people show up if given no direction vs. L.A. vs. Philly. vs. Chicago.  Very interesting.
