    @lawyerbride15:  SI3 is a made up grade to try to make [what would be graded by GIA or AGS as] I1 stones more desirable and, therefore, more expensive.  🙂

    I’d say for a faceted stone like a RB or princess, my lowest would be 1/2ct, I color, very good cut, SI2. For a step cut, my lowest would be K color, 1/2 carat, very good cut, VS2. 

    My e-ring is a RB .70ct, G color, SI2, excellent cut. The inclusion is one tiny little speck, and I’m actually surprised it’s an SI2 according to the GIA. The inclusion is literally miniscule and the cut camoflauges it almost completely.

    My new RHR is a .58ct, J color, VS2, asscher cut. 🙂 Can’t wait to get it!

    It all depends on the shape how good quality needs to be but color and clarity are most important to me. I don’t want to look at my stone and see any inclusions or yellow. Size and cut take a back seat to those two, for me.
