kmmq72 :  We are looking at a $15,000 wedding total, with my dress budget flexible so I’m not sure about the absolute total cost (and that doesn’t count the honeymoon). Most of that is simply the food and open bar. My venue is supplying dishes, linens, lights, and tables/chairs free of cost. We will have 300 guests at most.

I agree, the city prices are insane :O

Do you have pics?? Your place sounds lovely 😀

kmmq72 :  i thnk it really just depends on where you live. i live in new england so cost of living/expenses are much higher here than in other areas of the US. it suuuuuuucks

alfalfasprout10518 :  Oh I agree completely! Plus, its kind of customary to go to a church then have a hall venue for a reception. There are instances where people do outdoor weddings in a park or wherever, but you usually end up at a hall. Not so much a ballroom/hotel/outdoor patio/etc like more urban areas would have.

megm1099 :  Our’s total is about $8k, that’s the entire wedding including my dress. We’re pretty lowkey DIY people though. I’m also guessing we’ll have about 200-ish guests?

$30,000 minimum food spend coupled with a $10,000 rental fee. Not as high as some other brides but way out of budget for me!

winencheese83 :  Wow, way to use all the connection 🙂 I’m so glad it worked out for you guys! We haven’t had much luck like that – this one boutique hotel on the lake with waterfront tented reception has $30k food & beverage minimum (for 150 max capacity) was willing to come down quite a bit but only during off seasons. Being cold in the tent, potentially with rain? No thanks!

Your venue sounds lovely…do you have any pictures?

KittensBee :  Thanks so much!! Yes, I think it is a stunning venue. It is not stuffy like some other high end hotels.  Very intimate with an elegant gardens kind of like someone’s home.

oneinamillion :  Holy Moly!!!  $75,000 just for the ceremony and reception?  You still have to buy food and liquor?  Yowzer!!!  I want to come to your wedding, lol!!!

We never toured higher end places, to by honest.  I found a few places that were $6000 just to rent the venue on a Saturday but we never were serious about them.

Our ceremony site was $500 for an hour – I thought that was pricey but afger going through this thread……not so much!!!smile

citizenerased14 :  Oh yay! I love seeing other Maine bees! You’re right, we’re pretty rare–then again our state population isn’t very big. 😉 We’re probably related, haha

$160 pp not including open bar, linen rentals, or anything else. Just food and it was pretty basic compared to what we had.
