My cousin named her little girl London.  It’s growing on me, everyone seems to love it.

I’ve always loved the name Zuriel which is Hebrew(I believe) for the Lord is my Rock. I love the meaning, but also how pretty the name sounds.

@CheesetomyWhine – I LOVE the name Calliope!

@ClairDarling – I also am a lover of Shakespearean names!  A Midsummer Nights Dream is my favorite play!

@Jen416 – My mom really did name me after a character in the book she was reading when she gave birth.  Not super original (Shannon), but I didn’t know another Shannon until I went to college.  She wanted to name my Krystal, but my dad didn’t like it.

I love the family names as first names, my maiden name would be a super bizarre first name, so I can’t use that, but my grandmother’s maiden name is Jutte (pronounced like Judy, with the hard t sound), which I think is gorgeous for a girl!  My other grandmother’s maiden name is Thaman, I don’t think that works so well, lol!

I think after these Olympics Maelle (I heard it pronounced Mi-elle) might make a little surge.  I saw her a couple weeks ago in a qualifying event and it’s stuck out to me since.  Last night hubby confirmed he liked it too.  So it’s on the ‘list’ 🙂

Love seeing all these names!  We need to start a unique boy names thread!!

My last thought.  I have a sorority sister named Mele (May-Lee) and I’ve always loved it!  It’s Hawaiian and her parents heard it on their honeymoon.  Not sure what it means though.

I haven’t looked through all the posts, but one of the cutest girl’s names I’ve heard was a friend of a friend.

Rivers!  Isn’t that cute?  My fiance doesn’t like it though haha.

ELSEY

It’s an older name but I can see it becoming popular in a couple of years.

My little sister’s name is Allura (uh-lur-uh) and from the movie Willow, and my aunt’s name is Nerissa (which means daughter of the sea or sea goddess). Both unique.

My sister-in-law(in law) has a unique name: Jashley. Ashley with a J. She’s named after the Bible character Joash. Everyone in their family has a “J” name– all 7 kids. Her sister’s name is Jabrielle(jab-rielle).

I have girl family members named Teddi, Geri, Ronnie, Sabra, Johnny…

Growing up, I thought Cordelia(thanks Anne of Green Gables) and Octavia were cool names.

I work at a pediatric facility, and one name I’ve heard a few times is Naveah (Na-vay-ah)- it’s “Heaven” spelled backwards. I think it’s really beautiful!

I also LOVE Zoe and Chloe.

My niece’s name is Rowan.  I didn’t like it until she was born and now 4 years later, she totally looks like a Rowan 🙂  Her little brother is Declan.  My bro and sis-in-law love different names.

@jilian- mele means song.

i also saw leilani on this thread?  that’s so strange to me because both of those names are fairly common here in hawaii, or at least i for some reason know a few people for each name.  now i see why people think we’re in a foreign country out here!  lol.
