As I’m sure everyone is aware, Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. If you’re like me, I start planning gifts for the next holiday during the current one…which means I was already thinking about February 14th when we were opening Christmas gifts, haha.
I’ve gotten my Darling Husband some material gifts, and we always exchange handwritten–sappy!–cards. But the thing is: we’re pretty good about doing nice things for each other year round, or surprising each other with a little gift or note, etc. So I’m sort of stumped as to how I can add on to his tangible gifts with a romantic gesture. Obviously y’all don’t know him or us, but I’m still turning to you guys for some inspiration and I figured we could all help each other out with this.
What is the most romantic thing you’ve ever done for an SO/FI/DH/DW and/or what’s the most romantic thing they’ve ever done for you?

Hmmm… obviously it’s personal, but the most romantic gestures for me are the unexpected things that show me how much he thinks about me. But like you and your Darling Husband, we are both very good at being nice and thoughtful all the time.
A few of my most memorable:
-When we first started dating, he surprised me by completely repainting and furnishing one of the rooms in his house into an office for me, so I “could still do work, but spend time with him!” It was so sweet, because it showed how much he cared for me and wanted my presence nearby.
-When I got my college degree in the mail, he tracked it through FedEx and got off of work early to pick up a frame and wrap it. When I got home from work, he gave it to me, with a handwritten letter about how proud he was of me, and how he would always support me.
-Jewelry is not something I really enjoy (except my ring, I LOVE the sparkle!) but he is very thoughtful with it. He got me a custom necklace for Christmas, which had a picture of him proposing on it. It was only like $50, but it was so thoughtful and sweet. And even when he picked out my engagement ring, he did some sleuthing to figure out what I liked. He found out I was at the mall, and got me to admit that I had tried on a ring to figure out my ring size. After we hung up, he called every jewelry store to see if someone matching my description had tried on rings, and what size I was and what style I had liked. I was SHOCKED when he proposed with my dream ring, in my size! We laughed about that one for awhile, when he told me about how he got the information! And he proposed by reenacting our first date. Okay, this is now just me gushing!
Then of course, there are the smaller things, like just because flowers, getting off early to make me dinner when I have a bad day, and surprising me with coffee at work.
Romance is year round! 🙂

Me: I drove to CVS to get him constipation medicine. He had a bad tummy ache all night and didn’t want to wake me up, so when he saw me stir in the morning, he told me about his pains, and I zoomed over to get him some relief. Super romantic.
Him: I’m more of a traditional romantic, and I nagged him last year to get me a bouquet and macarons. He remembered. I was ecstatic. 🙂

This is less romantic and more like … sexy surprise-y, but I’m still so proud of it haha
For his birthday in college, I went to a Sears and got an empty box for the display deep freezer. I wrapped the box like a giant present and cut slits so the top would open. Then, I got into the box in just lingerie and high heels. One of his fraternity brothers who I trusted taped up the top and put a big bow on the box. Then he delivered me to my DH’s room on a dolly and said “special delivery!” and slid me off the dolly in his room.
The funniest part is he didn’t open it right away!! He assumed it was from me so he was texting and calling me trying to get me to come over so he could open it with me there! I was in the box for probably forty minutes between prep and waiting around for him to decide to sneak a peek lol

what a sweet sweet hubby you have!! <3
bless his heart–he sounds like my Darling Husband. he is like most men when sick, total man-baby, but he won’t go get anything for it. so sometimes if he’s under the weather and is moping, i just go to the store and get the meds, and then stick a bow on it and leave it for him to find. I like the think he appreciates it, haha. Also macarons give me lifeeeee.
LOL that is such a cute idea! I love that you were in the box waiting because he was trying to include you. Haha. A friend and I jumped out of a box for a friend (he wasn’t our Boyfriend or Best Friend we just had a running joke that we were all 3 a “couple” lol). We sat in the box for a while too because after he took some of the paper off the box, he kept going, “no this is a furniture box, it’s not for me. I think my mom must have ordered something,” haha. He was so confused.
I love all of your input!!
I ended up writing on our chalkboard in the kitchen: “Loving you makes perfect sense.” I had a little gift bag for each sense (sunglasses for sight, really good coffee for smell, chocolate for taste, I told him I love him for hear, and I got him a spa session for feel). He loved it.
I hope you gals have a marvelous Valentine’s Day today, in whatever form that means for you. <3

I filled a jar with little slips of paper, and on each slip is something that I like or love about him. Each day he takes one folded up slip out and reads it (and then puts it into another jar).

I have a bad memory with these things when put on the spot, but today I picked him a flower in minecraft.
