Its the biggest wedding trend right now, and every wedding I’ve seen the past 2 years have had these but I can’t stand it:
The bouquets where the stems of flowers show like this:
(random googe image search)
The reason this bugs me is that in photos, you don’t see the flowers, because most of the straight on shots show the stems, ribbons that tie them together, and you don’t actually get to see the pretty flowers!!!!!
I know that this is pretty much the bridal standard now…but what ever happened to those gorgeous cascading bouquets where you actually got the see the flowers and not the stems????
What are some of your trends that you just don’t understand? Any that you feel are unavoidable in your wedding?

lol I’m the opposte. I hate cascading bouquets! I kind of agree that the leaf to flower ratio in the pic you posted is too much, but I do like when a bit of leaves show though the flowers.
I also dislike pickups. Every wedding I’ve been to for the last two years, the bride’s dress had pickups! I just don’t like them.

I’m the opposite as well! LOVE bouquets shown in your pic. Hopefully this thread doesnt become another ‘ which detail do you hate about dresses the most thread!’ : )

I don’t generally like pickups, sometimes they remind me of the satin bedspreads that used to be popular. I have seen the right dress on the right person and they really pulled it off. I think that just depends on the person and the dress.
I WANT to like these bouquets…but the stems showing is what does it for me. Oh well.

Cupcakes. Just not for us.

Trash the dress. I don’t understand it!

Calla lilies. I think they are among the least pretty flowers there are, and I just don’t get all the love people have for them. I really hate them made as bouts that are so huge they look like corsages.

I agree with cupcakes…too birthday partyish for me.

Another vote for cupcakes!

A few: cupcakes also, cascading bouquets when its “cascading” because of vines, the word ‘theme,’ pickups (just not my style) and bridesmaid dresses that make me think of my high school homecoming dresses

Cupcakes and candy bars.
This ‘charming rustic chic’ a lot of weddings go for.

I know a lot of brides on here who have worn them, so I don’t want to offend them! I really am not a fan of the look of birdcage veils. Just not my taste, and I rarely like it when I see it on someone else.

I won’t say I “hate” anything but these are the things I just don’t get for a wedding:
1. Big, flouncy foo-foo dresses where the bride looks like the dress is wearing HER (especially the ones that look like about a zillion used Kleenex’s have been crushed to form the bottom).
2. Off-centered photography. (Why would anyone want to see a picture of an entire tree with the bride and groom just hanging out all off-centered in the corner??)
3. Cascading bouquets
4. Cheesy slide shows during the reception

@2PeasinaPod: YES! I totally forgot birdcage veils. (Please don’t hate me….)
