lola36:  moissanite was created for gemstone use in 1998, and those first few years, the stones were pretty tinted.  So if your stone is white and bright, and 3ct, I would suspect it is either CZ or newer moissy.

lola36:  Moissanite wasn’t commercially available or being made in labs 30 years ago. Whatever that ring is, it’s not moissanite.

I don’t know if this is considered rude or not, but the first time i saw my mom after getting engaged it took her 20 minutes to ask to see my ring. She claims she ” forgot”. She never really said anything about it after she finally asked to see it.

rittenhousenewbee:  if it’s any consolation, you should have told her that “look bitch, you are doing MY nails, not the other way around” or something of the sort in mandarin.  I’m sure she would have got your point.

The day after I got engaged and still completely excited, a Friend saw my ring (which is the most gorgeous thing to me and I wouldn’t want anything else!) and said “wow, you would think after 10yrs of dating, it would be bigger. that’s a shame”. to which I replied… “No, the shame is that you would say that to someone you consider a friend.”

Now the ODDEST thing someone has done to my ring…. Someone I just met through a friend, asked to see my ring, so I put my hand out for her to see it. She took the ring off my finger to look at it closely!  I took it back fast and gave her a confused look! Sorry, BUT NO ONE TAKE THIS OFF OF MY FINGER! 😛

lets bring back this thread! It’s so good!

Plus, I got my first rude ring comment recently. My SIL said it was tacky. 😂

I have a few new ones. My ring looks like a dingleberry. My ring looks like a key chain. My hubs asked if it was broken (TWICE.) HA! Love it.

charmmykitty:  my stance is that if people have to ASK if a diamond is fake, then they would not be able to afford the real thing themselves, since they obviously know nothing about diamonds!

I haven’t gotten any rude comments about my e-ring but from what I’ve seen based on the stories in this thread, most snobs comment about gem size so I’m sure I’ll get a snide remark some day. (My e-ring is a half-eternity anniversary band.)

The closest incident I had to a rude comment was when I was showing my e-ring to a co-worker and I mentioned that I gave my fiance an e-ring too and she got really quiet and said, “But…he’s not *supposed* to have one..” But when I explained that I didn’t think it was fair for only me to have one she pretty much let it go after that.

Not my ring, but had an acquaintance say that if her Boyfriend or Best Friend got her the same sized ring as another acquaintance, she would laugh in his face. Rude on 2 levels! I also want rose gold, and someone told me that it would look like “poop was stuck on my ring”

mushface:  Trust me, the rose gold bandwagon is a fun one to be on. It looks great on all skin tones and it’s the most durable of all the gold types. I originally wanted a steel or tungsten but I could not have been happier with my e-ring.

“Show me your ring!”

Then silence.

Ugh, at least say “aw cute” if you’ve got nothing else.
