I agree with all the PPs who say to lift heavy weights. My arms looked amazing when I had a job that required lifting heavy stuff (50lb bags of flour and the like).

@Nostawyn: that’s true – i worked at a garden centre slinging bags of dirt and trays of plants…
@redheadedstranger: I used to take a cardio kickboxing class and I agree that was awesome, I wish I could afford a class right now 🙁
@MsGinkgo: The best arms I ever had were when I was doing 75 pushups a day. Now I don’t think I could do one, and my arms definitely show it. You can work on it. Check out an app called the 100 pushup app or something like that. It will help you build up to it. I am a big fan of working out using only your body and think you get the best benefits that way.
@hotpinkbride: I can do a couple pushups – almost. Have to be on my knees and I can’t go all the way to the ground, but it’s way better than I used to be…I’m trying. I just hate them so much. My upper body has never been in great shape – even when the rest of me was from swimming/dancing/cheerleading…
@MsGinkgo: I do it in my garage! =) Yeah, we had the initial purchase price of the equipment, but it really isn’t all that bad in the grand scheme of things! All you really need is the bag, gloves and handwraps.
@MsGinkgo: I hated them too (and hate them now again that I can’t do them anymore, ha) but if you struggle through it, and just try to do a few each day to start they get super easy! And you can do them in front of the TV. I promise it is worth it!
Pilates can help to tone them, and for good definition along with motivation I’d heartily recommend BodyPump! My gym includes the classes in the monthly fee, but I know classes are offered separately in many locations. It hurts, in an awesome way! 🙂 🙂
Les Mills’ Body Pump 2-3 times a week.
Even if you hate yoga, you can just do a few sun salutations each day. Specifically, chaturanga will help.
MsGinkgo: Pinterest can be your best friend!! I also got resistance bands and a 10lb kettle bell and have 6-8 exercises i do a few times a week in addition to my cardio and I am definitely seeing a difference.
