We booked a trip to Disney World thinking we would get married there, but once we found out their options for a very small wedding suck.. we decided to get married in Colorado 2 days before we leave for Disney. We also wanted to save some $$, so having it on a Thursday helped alot.

But we didnt think about our first anniversary being on Friday the 13th… lol

none, we watned a spring wedding but my brother was being deployed to afghanistan but they couldn’t give us an exact date. late february/early march was all they could tell us so we picked the furthest date out without compromising him being out of the country. we didn’t want to wait 7 months for his return so we did it before he left.

As far as significance, it’s the day we were married. We wanted to get married in May, a Friday wedding was less expensive and it was the first weekend we were both free from our teaching commitments.

Our wedding will take place in October which is the month we started dating in.  We are getting married ONE day before our 5th year anniversary.  So, we’ll celebrate 5 years together & our new life as a newly married couple in Hawaii ^_^.  Also, our wedding takes place on Columbus day weekend and his grandparents got married on Columbus day weekend too.  So it’s special for many reasons.

It was the date the reception hall/church was open, and the weather isn’t too bad during that time of year (not sweltering heat, not during the height of hurricane season, not during Christmas/Mardi Gras).

We also happened to start dating on the 17th of December, and we got engaged in November.

Me and Fiance started officially dating 07/31/07, closed on our house on 12/27/10, got engaged 09/17/11, so the number 7 just kept popping up. I knew I always wanted to get married in October so I looked for a Saturday to see if there was a “7” in the day and there was, the 27th.

  • Wedding: April 2012

It was in the spring, it was almost 2 years after the engagement date, it was available at the venue, it was FI’s parents’ anniversary date as well, we had been together for 5 years (5-5-12) and my band is a 5-stone ring =)  I’m big on numbers  =)  Only thing that would’ve been better would be an actual anniversary for one of our “special dates.”

I wanted April 17th because that’s the first day I realized I was in love with him… but that’s in the middle of the week so we chose the 20th. Close enough for me 🙂

The night we became engaged, I immediately started going through my calendar.  I knew I wanted a long engagement so 2012 was the year for us (we were engaged in 2010).  I didn’t want a winter wedding so Jan-March was knocked out immediately.  April was an iffy month.  There’s too many May birthdays in both of our families.  Plus there’s graduations, communions, etc.  June is too many graduations/parties.  July and August are too hot for us.  September is a good month towards the end, but FI’s birthday is the 18th so I figured he didn’t want it too close.  November-December are too close to holidays for me.  So, there leaves October and April.  I went with October because it’s when it’s starting to cool down and it’s really pretty outside.  The 13th worked perfectly because it’s FI’s lucky number.  It’s also the house number I grew up in.

….Shew.  I’m crazy, I know.
