I don’t know if its crazy or weird but I worked on an old aircraft carrier that was turned into a museum. I was updating the library there. I had to crawl down a ladder thingy and then shimmy up another ladder to get to my work space. I always left smelling like fuel and old books. Also when the weather was bad I got off work because my area of the ship was considered unsafe to be in.

@dcdt212:  My area was in an inner part of the ship that wasn’t open to the public. My job was basically getting the place ready for when it would be. Once it was completed they would build out a new entrance that people could get to, I left before it was completed so I’m not sure if that ever happened.

I used to be a balloon twister in restaraunts and at parties. I made hats, animals, etc. Its pretty weird, but I made GREAT money doing it, although it got very old by the end. Also I should note I did not dress up as a clown or anything else.

I was a customer service rep for a natural fly control popular for horses and agriculture. The product was a small wasp that laid its eggs on fly larvae…and when the eggs hatched, they ate the larvae.

Got to explain that fun little fact about 15 times a shift, lol.

@dcdt212:  Haha I never really thought about where they come from either.

I was hired for a few hours to count inventory at Claire’s once.  This was back in high school.  My friend and I were walking through the mall and a Claire’s employee came out of the store, stopped us, and asked us if we wanted to make some easy money.  All we had to do was come back when the mall closed in an hour and count all the accessories on the store shelves.

I don’t know how ‘weird’ it is, but I’m going back to work on a 400 acre African wildlife preserve here in wine country in March. I get to drive people to their tent cabins and such in a jeep all day. it rules. I really do love it.

A portion of my day is spent telling people not to pet/kiss/feed/hug the giraffes.

The weidest job I ever had was when a friend who worked at a big chain company asked if I would pretend to be a secretary at their office building for a day while some higher-up person came in from out of state.  Apparently the higher-ups were impressed because they thought this office building was succssfully used on a regular basis…but in reality it wasn’t. So, I sat at a desk for about 3 hours and pretended to answer phones so the out-of-state person would think they used their office building more often. It was super weird, and also hilarious since my friend kept calling from the main store. I would answer the phone and try to sound like I was getting a serious call while my friend was laughing and making up ridiculous things on the other end.

I was a spy! 🙂

I worked for a professional school who sent me to other schools offering the same programs to evaluate their practices, programs, prices, etc. I had to pretend I was a potential student that wanted information before deciding where to enroll. I then reported to my employer all info found (formal and informal).

it paid about 50$/h! Not too bad for a student job! 🙂

One summer I sanded airplanes to prepare them for painting. There’s a picture somewhere of me standing on the wing of a Hawker in paper coveralls, breathing mask and goggles with a rotary sander in my hand.

@dcdt212:  Nah it was a short contract so I don’t use it at all on my resume since it’s not related to my field now. I would LOVE to have “spy” on my resume though! 🙂
