Having a hard time answering that question today. I was really set on black and purple but I’ve been getting negative thoughts on that… then I thought maybe blush & ivory.. what Colors have you picked out? Any suggestions? Here are some details: Wedding will be in October 2016, venue and ceremony will be at a huge beautiful hotel, my fiancé is a redneck & I am a huge rock & roll fan/suburbs girl .. opposites attract lol

Name the color that you love the most and ditto for Fiance. Use that as a base for your color palette.
Black is a neutral color so you don’t really have to count it as part of your palette. Ditto for white, ivory, and all metallics.
There are quite a few color palette tools online. You can choose one color or upload an image of the color you like and the site will generate a palette.

I think purple and black would look awesome! So dramatic!

I think that purple and black can work amazingly together!! Don’t let the haters bring you down!
Personally, we’re doing more of a colour “palette” lol – purples, greys, creams, whites, silver with a bit of black thrown in too. My Fiance has also decided that he would like to add blue to this, so I think we’re now leaning more towards pastel purple and blue with lighter greys, creams, whites, silver and a little black. You should do what you want and what you like – don’t worry about what others think.

Here’s something similar to my colour scheme. our colours are based on my fiancé’s tartan that he will be wearing. I don’t know that we really have a theme… I think it’s a romantic wedding (13th century castle ruins followed by an old hotel on the beach).

Our theme is To The Moon And Back and our colors are all in this centerpiece (blue, purple, blush, silver and gold)

Go woth what YOU love! IF you and Fiance want blavk and purple, do it! It may not be everyone’s first color choice, but this is your wedding. I personally love the purple and black color palette, maybe even do a rock and roll meets redneck theme?
If you are a DIY person, and go with purple, you can buy pearlized purple guitar picks (that look fancy) and make jewelry and/or scatter them on the tables instead of rose petals. If you like this idea, I can take some photos of jewelry I have made with those picks and crystal beads and send them to you for ideas. These are similar but not as fancy.
I actually styled a purple red and black rock n roll themed wedding in 2008, and can get you some ideas and photos if you want to go in that direction. All those photos are in my attic, so that is why I am not posting them now. You could do things like “backstage passes” for your bachlorette, concert ticket invites or save the dates, band or album themed centerpieces, ect.
As for my theme and color pallette it was:
Vintage/Retro red, black, white and polka dot with vintage keys and locks tied in. We stuck to out theme hard, I did the invites, menus, thanks you, sinage, programs, and escort cards in the same stule and used the same fonts throughout. If we liked something and it didn’t fit the theme, it was out. We also did a ton of DIY, so working the theme/colors in that way helped. Here it is!

We did navy blue and yellow. Plus a bunch of fall-like colors incorporated. It was really hard to come down to just 2 colors for the whole thing, so we just went with a fall color scheme.

- Wedding: Malibou Lake Mountain Club
we did a bit of an “us” theme (video game arranged music, succulents, pencils as gifts as my husband is a teacher, espresso bean/choco wedding favors) and powder/baby blue color.

Haha I know how you feel, Fiance and I grew up in the same town but he loves country music, hunting, fishing, all that good stuff. I like that stuff too but I am big into punk music. I told him I will be playing certain rock songs and maybe even some punk covers of well known songs lol! I love the idea of having black, it’s masculine and still edgy. Maybe you could do something less dark than the purple and black, like black and gold or black and blush or maybe three colors like blush and ivory with black accents? Here are some pics I found:

We are doing Ivory & gold with hints of light grey.. You could do hints of pink if you want some blush/pink in it?

I think purple and black could look super classy as long as you don’t go overboard with the black. A previous posters examples were great.
Our wedding theme is loosely celestial themed because we both love stars and we first met at a bonfire where we walked around on the beach and sang songs together under the night sky. I say loosely because I don’t want stuff like star maps or constellations, but more the romantic “feel” of a starry moonlit night. We are also throwing in stuff we like. For example, the table numbers are all going to have quotes from our favorite shows/movies or my favorite books (because I’m a literary nerd), and I want to put Xbox controller buttons into the groom and groomsmen bouts because he is such a gamer.
Our colors are gold, pale yellow, and Navy/royal blue. I can’t decide between the two, maybe I will use both.

I loooove the purple and black together! Stick with what you love! Ignore what other people think! 🙂
We are getting married the day before Canada Day so we’re really running with a Canadian theme! We are doing a Red, White, Black and Gold colour palette. Lot’s of hockey references and maple leafs. “Typical” Canadian items will be tied in; poutine at the late night buffet, maple syrup flavoured candies. I also love country music; so to bring a little of that into the mix; my girls and I will be wearing cowboy boots (me red, the girls brown)! I’m super excited to see it all tied in together!

- Wedding: April 2017 - Hogarths, Solihull
We are having a lego superhero wedding. We love lego and comic books so we’re going for it 🙂
There are just going to be subtle hints about the theme dotted around.
Colours are grey/silver, blue and yellow (a la 1960’s Batman)
