We went with black, white, gold and hints of blush. I don’t have alllll of my pictures back, but our color choice made our evening feel really elegant — but still really fun. I say go with what you like. Don’t worry about what everyone else thinks about it, they’ll be your memories and your pictures. 🙂

I am doing an Earth Day theme and using nature as a color palate… We’re using globes for decor for the cocktail hour, then in the reception room, the guests will see a lot of greens, Brown’s, white, yellow, etc. I’m using dried flowers in unmatching old cases, a few terrariums hung in a heart shape by a huge window, I’m making heart shapes with branches and dried flowers to hang over the chairs. I can’t wait!!

We’re going with a Paisley theme, the colors are purple, silver, and white. I’m hoping for a white lehenga choli with silver workings but it’s still early so I might change my mind (again).

MsElle:  I love that you are doing your color scheme around his tartan! What clan is he, if you don’t mind me asking?

Stick with black and purple. it can be done beautifully. People are probably worried it will look goth  but it can be executed so elegantly. I

adore the 3rd picture!

vblanch:

His family doesn’t actually have a tartan directly related to their name, but they have the McLeod clan in their family tree and it is FI’s middle name so he has taken the Isle of Skye tartan.

I have two themes in mind. One is (surprisingly popular on this thread) plum/dark purple and orange. However, my SO is more a fan of neutrals and not into bold colors… so I have a backup. Both of us like astronomy and our favorite songs are Satellite (his is Satellite by Rise Against and mine is Satellite by Guster), so a star/space theme seems appropriate.

MsElle:  Fascinating!

My grandmother’s maiden name is McCatherine which is a branch off the MacDonald clan. I don’t know how to add pictures or I’d show off our tartan.

Our theme is boho rustic. Colors are blush and a kind of eucalyptus green. Kind of like this.

We are having the whole wedding outdoors, and there is a lot of gorgeous greenery we want to include in our look!

Souzie :  Hi, I realize this is an old thread. I was wondering what site you used to make your little squared swatches image? I’ve been trying to find all over on boards and online, but none of them have actual gold like yours shows. I’d like to be able to create one using an actual metallic gold swatch to help me with my planning. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

razromance :  Oh dear…it’s been so long, let’s see if I can remember.  I know I didn’t use any site to make my swatches.  I think what I did was look up the colors that I liked on Google images and then re-sized them to make them all the same size.  Then I used an editing software like Gimp to put all the colors in a row.

Hope that helps!

Souzie :  Thank you so much! Yes – anything helps! I didn’t even consider trying to make my own with swatches. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Cheers!
