our wedding is adults only, but we offered to arrange for child care if anyone needed it. my cousin declined and said she couldn’t come because her 1.5 year old is a handful and she would be worried about him with the sitter the whole time. mind you her and her husband work full-time so her son is with a sitter often. im sure she’s just upset that her kid can’t come and by her referring him as a “handful”, i dont regret my decision one bit!

so far most of the ones I’ve gotten have been with very good explanations (eg, “So sorry to miss it! I’ll be in Belgium…”) but the only one that’s actually made me sad so far didn’t have any excuse at all, and I just went to their wedding last month! 🙁

These excuses made me laugh @ some and then just realize how people are kinda selfish :/

One of my Dad’s friends told him he was declining because he was scared to fly on September 11. Which would kind of make sense except our wedding is the 17th. We had one friend tell us he had a wedding somewhere closer the same weekend… turns out he blew his money that he was going to use on our wedding in Vegas.

@TotesMagotes, .twist., dani ddha – yep, that was a real excuse. Not even joking. I learned a lot about people through wedding planning, but that was the lamest of all the regrets, for sure!

That’s hilarious. It’s not like mailing them back to you cost them anything. They are already stamped.
If anything it’s the courtesy invites that make me nervous. It really is a toss-up, the travel costs may be high, but you hardly ever see the person so they may take the long trip this one time.
