So far:

We went dress shopping for our mothers and she was trying on and looking at literally what I would expect my Grandmother to come dressed in. I finally made a comment like “You know you can wear something a little more glam or flashy, you are still hip and have a great figure.” Ok well maybe I did this to myself, so maybe Im asking for it. But she said “Well hunny I do not want to take any attention from you or out do you.” I couldnt hold it in, I just burst with laughter. I could feel my mother’s eyes burning into my chest! I just said “TRUST ME, I’ll be the ONLY one wearing ivory or anything CLOSE to the shade of ivory/white/cream, I think I’ll be just fine, but thank you for your concern.” The only reason I said anything about color is because she started talking about Champagne colored gowns, im standing there thinking, wow really!? I think my mom was in shock too. This woman does NOT think before she speaks. And then she happily walks over to the “Academy Award” statue looking dress, literally a pair of SPANX dipped in Gold sequence and glitter and starts drooling over it. Luckily they only had the sample size of a 0 available.

Oh Lord please help me.

She’s used the word tacky in reference to my mom seeing my engagement ring before I did. I still don’t understand why, but apparently it was. His aunt is even worse. I’ve met her once, and at the time Fiance and I had started house hunting. She had the gall to tell us we couldn’t afford a house. Excuse me, when was the last time you saw our bank account/paystubs, thank you very much. This was almost three years ago and it still gets me going to think about it.

I love, love, love my Future Mother-In-Law. That being said, when showing her the wedding dress I’ve been dreaming of online one night, she remarked, “It’s gorgeous, honey, but you’ll have to lose a bit more weight for something like that.” I know she didn’t mean to hurt me, but it burned a bit more than I thought it would–only because I’ve already lost 70lbs over the last year.

The worst thing my Future Mother-In-Law has said to me?  She hasn’t spoken to me since the one time I met her 3 years ago. I’d say that’s pretty bad!  She is not in FI’s life at all.  She is invited to the wedding, but I couldn’t care less if she goes.

Wow, all these posts are making my blood boil – sorry ladies.

I invited my Future Mother-In-Law to the wedding venue my Fiance and I chose and upon asking her opinion about details and decor, she said, “He’s already had his big wedding,” with a wave of her hand. (My Fiance was married before.)

Now she wonders why her help is no longer enlisted…!!!

Well, she just posted on a FB status I had (Stating that I got my first “Am I invited to your wedding?” question) that she would give fiance and I $1000 to elope.

Awesome.

So since that is fresh and new, I’m going with that.  What a nice thing to post on Facebook!

She’s never said anything negative to me. I’m so glad that I’ve got the Future Mother-In-Law that I got. She is so sweet and we have a great relationship.

My future in laws are GREAT – but MY parents on the other hand. I have been with my fiance for almost 4 years and they still refuse to meet him – and when they found out I was dating outside my race they asked me if they had raised me to be a quote “gang banging whore” end quote.

@PrettyInInk_85: OMG. That’s the worse thing I’ve ever heard. I’m amazed that you still speak to them!

@PrettyInInk_85: GOOD GRIEF! I’m so sorry you have to deal with people like that.

My family isn’t at all supportive of me, and most of my close relatives are dead, so I get a little jealous whenever I see especially supportive families all get together to do something really extraordinary like dress up for a pirate-themed wedding, or, you know, not be complete douches in general.

My fiance and I have decided not to invite anybody to the wedding, lol. Most of our money is going towards the honey moon so we can enjoy time AWAY from the relatives. I think if both of our relatives were to ever meet up all in one place, some kind of divide by zero dimensional rift would open up and the antichrist would pop out. Just sayin.

I had a facebook status that was short and sweet using one word to describe how I was feeling (can’t for the life of me remember the word) but everyone commented saying “hang in there” or “are you okay??”

Future Mother-In-Law commented with “that’s selfish”…

So when I called her up and asked what she meant by that she tried to cover it up with, “Oh, I thought you were looking to find what the word means”…So rude!

Another time was when we went dress shopping with her for the wedding…she hated everything I picked out for her (she said she wanted me their for my opinion) and then she would throw the dresses into my arms for me to hold them for her while she kept looking. Not only that but she had me fetch her 5 different colors and 3 different sizes of each dress while she was in the dressing room. I had so much going on at the time and this took 2 days.

@An Alaskan Bride: My nephew and niece live with them – otherwise, I’m not so sure I would still have a relationship with the folks in any sort.

Love my Mother-In-Law to death but I hate the whole “Is she pregnant yet?” She asks to my husband. She has been asking that since I was 20. Seriously?
