Nothing like making your grandma cry or the cops showing up! Wow.
Nothing like making your grandma cry or the cops showing up! Wow.
At a wedding this summer, my friend’s husband left straight after the church ceremony (without telling his wife he was leaving), went back to his hotel room, changed into a ratty t-shirt and shorts, and came back to the (open bar) reception with a six-pack of cheap beer. Legit the trashiest thing I’ve ever seen.
Wow these are crazy stories!! I’m glad I’m not having a bouquet /garter toss and only having like 4 children attend!
Here’s my worst story: I was Maid/Matron of Honor for my cousins wedding and to save them money her FH with some friends did most of the cooking themselves (about 150 guests). He was a restaurant manager so he figured that he could do it…WRONG!!! When I sat down after getting food from the buffet line, I cut into my chicken and it was raw…EEWW!! So I was too scared to eat anything else!
I said this in another post, but I went to a wedding two weeks ago where at least 4 people were throwing up because the bride and groom didn’t feed us until about 9:00pm. There was no food at cocktail hour and the speeches, etc. were done first. There was literally throwup everywhere and you couldn’t go into a bathroom without hearing retching sounds. Gross!
I was a bridesmaid in my roommate’s wedding two days after our college graduation. She and her fiance were young, so her oversight regarding “details” makes sense, but they’re pretty funny in hindsight. For starters, there was no transportation between the ceremony and the reception, so all four bridesmaids took the subway in their big, poofy dresses. They forgot to plan the music, so another bridesmaid and I left the reception to grab a boom box (this was a few years ago) from our dorm room and stopped at the supermarket to buy a CD to play. And the fancy hotel where the reception took place kicked the guests out at 6:30 PM because there was another event scheduled right after the wedding. As we were leaving, we could see all the guests for the other event waiting in the hallway…Live and learn, I suppose.
Wow…cops and four year olds with garters. These are some entertaining stories.
My fiance did “the worm” twice last month at his sister’s wedding.
OMG these stories are awful!
At one of my best friends’ wedding, a drunk (very distant) friend of the bride fell asleep on the lounge area. My friend’s Mother-In-Law went to check on her a little while after, covered her with her own coat (so sweet), and sat on the other end of the couch she was sleeping on, while she chatted with some older guests. Suddenly, she felt something wet on her dress… YES, this drunk girl had peed on my friend’s MIL’s DRESS!!
Drunken frat brother of the groom crashed into the wedding cake table, then proceeded to barf on it.
Awful. Everyone was horrified.
OMG Fifty – that’s insane!!!
Oh, I know. I have a few other doozies, but I doubt any of them top that!
The joys of Greek life. (And by Greek, I mean frat/soror)
Worst thing was probably at a friend’s wedding it was their last dance of the night and you could tell they were arguing in hushed whispers, and the bride just had a pissed off look on her face. The song ended and she whipped out of the grooms arms and stomped away while the DJ was asking all the guests to give it up for the new Mr. and Mrs. X…it was horrible.
Or there was my Uncle’s wedding…this is more stupid than horrible but they didn’t plan for a dinner reception, which was fine. Except for the fact that the ceremony was at like 2 lasted a half hour and then the reception didn’t start until like 7:30. So the guests were left to fend for themselves for dinner in an area with literally like 3 sit down restaurants. So they ended up telling the guests where the bridal party was eating and inviting the guests along, but it was a mess and so crazy. Fi and I went with my family and my cousin and her family to a different restaurant and had a grand ol’ time.
This summer I attended a VERY trashy wedding. The bride is a known party-girl, who can be very attention seeking, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but… The entire wedding party appeared to be drunk before the reception started. Instead of giving a speech, the Maid/Matron of Honor stood up at the podium and said “Who wants to make-out with me?”. The other two bridesmaids responded “I do!”, and then the 3 of them proceeded to kiss and grope, to the cheers of the groomsmen and horror of the rest of us. The bride (not wanting to be out done by her friends) then got up to say thank you to everyone and instead deep-throated the microphone.
Some people have no class!
I can’t believe I forgot about this one:
I went to a wedding as a date and since I was good with a camera, someone asked if I would videotape the ceremony and some of the reception. It was an Irish wedding with some of the groomsmen and relatives flying over from Ireland. The bride was late -really LATE, like an hour. The priest got upset because he had another cermeny to perform, so he left and said he would come back later. Well, the groomsmen decided to crack open the Guinness keg and proceeded to get ripped with the groom. By the time the bride got there and the priest got back, the groom was so drunk he was slurring his vows. In his embarassment, he leaned over and kissed the Bible in the priests hands! The bride and her mother were so mad their faces were turning red.
When the reception started, I decided to take a break from filming and placed the camera on the table next to me. I thought I turned the camera off, but apparently, it was on because when we watched it later, I had perfectly framed the groom and his sister getting into an awful argument and she had hauled off and slapped him.
We had a lot of editing to do on that one!
The worst thing I’ve seen (or should I say didn’t see?) was a wedding over the summer where the bride’s brother was supposed to walk her down the isle. The day before the wedding he got pulled over and eventually arrested for possession and needless to say couldn’t make it to the wedding the next day. Her uncle had to step in for him. However, that’s not the worst part. In the car with him were the photographer and the DJ. They were all arrested as well. Last minute replacements were found, and luckily everything turned out OK, but I’m sure the bride and her mom will never let the brother live that one down. I felt so sorry for them.
