I bring half a lemon to work each day, and squeeze it into my water bottle. I hear lemon water has lots of benefits! I like to think this keeps me healthy. I managed to avoid getting sick in the last incredibly stressful 6 months… and half the office got sick with a bad cold last week that I managed to avoid.

SLEEP. I make sleep a priority and go to bed early.

I’m extra careful to wash my hands often (especially before eating), use more hand sanitizer, and try not to touch my face.

I always wash my hands when coming inside from being out anywhere.

Try to get lots of veggies.

This doesn’t always happen, but exercise helps reduce stress (which I believe makes you run down and more prone to illness).

I never get sick (never had the flu, no colds) except for maybe a runny nose or slight sore throat when the seasons change.  I’ve purposefully made out with ex-bfs with colds and I still never got them.  Never been a germaphobe either.

I generally eat healthy, get 7-9 hours of sleep, and always work out 4-5 days a week.

I like to imagine that helps a lot.

Or it’s just genetics (I tend to think it is somewhat as my parents don’t get sick either, neither my mother nor myself have ever had the flu)

Taking Vitamin D3 couldn’t hurt either.

I do get headaches though and I had a light one the morning of my wedding and by midnight it was definitely back Frown  At least I got through the day okay.

@MrsPanda99:  We do have EmergenC. Most grocery stores sell it now, I know at Whole Foods its by the cash. You can buy a box or a single packet.

I go on an all-liquid OJ diet for 2-3 days, and wash my hands 10-12 times a day (but I worked in childcare, which is the second germiest place in the world after hospitals!)

I started getting sick the week before our wedding.., But I also had a half marathon that week, so I ran through it!

I was fine for my wedding. However, here we have the weather changing so a lot of people get sick at this time Preventative measures or not.

@chronicwhimsy:  This!

When we got married i got sick a week after, it was terrible.

We eloped  a week after he proposed, go figure. There was still a lot of stress because of the circumstances surrounding though.

@MrsPanda99:  I believe it’s directly stress related for some, while for others it’s actually the let down period of suddenly having time to relax after being busy/stressed planning for months. A lot of people get sick when they can suddenly relax and their body switches out of fight or flight mode into a normal mode.  This is sometimes why you see the phenomenon of people who get ill AFFTER fighting for something.  For example, a med student might go through three years of residency getting very little sleep and eating poorly, yet manage to stay well throughout that period, only to find themself ill two weeks after finishing medical school when they actually have time to relax and slow down.

I was sick the week before my wedding too. I know it definitely was stress related.

My husband and I take a lot of vitamins and we never get sick (except for the sinus infections i get which are weather related).  BUT my stupid coordinator met with us when she had the flu (unbeknownst to us), and we both ended up getting the flu.  UGH, I am still mad to this day when I think about it. My bachelorette party I was the first one to go back to the hotel….I was on sooooo much flu medicine that night.
