Knowing he has the ring is worse to me because the other scenario actually gives a specific month so you at least know when it’s coming for sure.

As someone who knows their bf has a ring…I can’t imagine more excitement and anticipation. Anything we do together I think ‘this might be it!’ Both are super crazy and exciting times though!!

I don’t know, I’m in camp #2, where he has told me it will happen before a certain time (my 30th birthday) but I don’t know if he has the ring yet or anything. I might feel better knowing he actually had a ring. Without knowing that I feel uneasy, like he hasn’t even taken the first step towards making us engaged (and I did offer to propose, but he made me promise to wait until then. If he doesn’t do it, I get to have my revenge in the form of getting down on one knee wherever and whenever I feel like it. Mwahahahaha!).

nowyouareaghost :  Same! I knew that he was proposing this summer but didn’t know if he had a ring, and now I’m 99% sure he has the ring.  I’m super Type A, so previously I just kept worrying that he didn’t realize how long it takes a ring to get made and arrive, and that he wouldn’t be totally sure what I want (I told him I wanted him to choose it, and gave inspiration pics), or that time would get away from him and it’d be too late (I’m moving at the end of the summer and we’ll be LD for a year), etc etc – even though he’s perfectly capable of remembering and figuring out and dealing with all those things on his own!  I’m just a control freak, so not-knowing made me a bit uneasy, as you said.  Now that I’m almost certain he has a ring, it’s like, okay, cool, he’ll do it on his own time, he has a plan, just sit back and let him do his thing.  Of course, now that we’ve chosen a date and started looking at venues the proposal feels more and more like a formality.

lagavulin :  I am totally your Type A twin. I’m a planner, so knowing he has at least taken the first step would make me relax for a time. My 30th birthday is still more than 6 months off, so I know he has the time right now. I just worry.

Well I’m in the position that we’ve been talking about getting married for months so I know it’s coming at SOME point. Last night we were cuddling and talking and he said “you know what, I know I said I wanted to wait a little while, but we both know it’s a fore gone conclusion that we’re getting married. Why wait? I suppose I’m gonna have to go ring shopping. What size ring do you wear? Then we have to plan the wedding! Where do you wanna go for our honeymoon?” I love him so much. But the wait IS torture. He knows the ring I want (that I made sure would be in his budget) so now I have no idea. Hopefully it’s soon.

Ritar33 :

that’s the stage I’m at with my boyfriend.

Weve be talked about it and we’re both ready so he said to pick out rings and give to my mom so that I have no clue.

hes been talking about it a lot so I finally did that yesterday so I know it’s happening but not even knowing a vague time frame kills me!!
