Our combined salary is above average for NYC and even then we’re at 30% (eeeek! please don’t judge me!) We are paying for the entire wedding ourselves, so I feel like it’s an accomplishment.

just the wedding is 22%.

with the rings, including e-ring, is 38%, and the honeymoon is another 6%.

Our wedding is at 35%. Honeymoon is 7%, rings were 6%. I like this calculation, it really puts it into perspective! ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re spending too much!

Wow. This is an excellent question. This really puts things into perspective!

my ring was at least 10%, maybe 20% of his annual income last year… but that’s because we’re students, and he took four months off when we studied abroad. wow. putting it that way, i can’t believe he spent that much!!

our wedding will be between 15-20% of our annual income, but both sets of parents are each chipping in approx 5% of their annual incomes, so we’re only paying 5-8% by the time everything is said and done.

With our budget, we included the rings. We thought it’d be ridiculous not to considering how large a sum they came out to be.

Overall, it comes out to be 40% of our combined incomes. But we based it on how much he would be willing to contribute and what i would be willing to contribute. We’re paying for our entire wedding — a huge financial project for a new couple! But lots and lots of fun. ๐Ÿ˜€ nguyen-eileen.com

Here’s a question — are we talking about gross or net in terms of income? That’ll definitely make a big difference in the calculations, especially living in Canada where we get taxed to death =(.

Ours is about 17% of cour combined incomes, and of that, we are paying for a little over half, and our parents together are paying for a little less than half.  Of the half+ we are paying for (from savings), we are each contributing 10% of our respective incomes, and I’m really glad I can see it like that now because he makes a lot more than me and I was worried I wasn’t saving enough–this really puts it into perspective. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t know how much my rings cost, but if I had to guess, I’d say about 10% of his income for my rings (also from savings), and about 0.4% of my income for his ring ๐Ÿ˜› (love that tungsten carbide price).

Our honeymoon is relatively inexpensive at 2.5% of our combined incomes because we’re using freq. flyer miles for our airfare.  Yay!

Oh and to answer GreenApple, I’m assuming gross income (pre-tax).

Ours is going to be around 22% – if my parents weren’t paying for the majority of expenses, I’m sure our budget would be more like 5%.

We are at 30% without rings, honeymoon or rehersal.  And thats based on pre-tax salaries!  We are paying for everything minus the band and a bit of my dress on our own.

Not including my ring, the honeymoon, and rehearsal dinner, we’ll be spending about 15% of our combined annual income (pretax)…my parents are paying about 55%, we’re paying about 35%, and his parents are paying about 10% (and they have also offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner, but not sure how much that will be).

We are at about 12%. I can’t see going above 15%. And that includes rings. Honeymoon is not included because it was a gift.

I’m a bit of a unique situation… I work internationally and don’t pay any income tax ๐Ÿ™‚  My Fiance is here with me and for a switch after years of me in grad school, he’s not working.  We’re spending about a third of my income on the wedding.
