@carmensita1: My OH is getting platinum. We chose it because he wanted a white metal that wouldn’t discolour (ie not white gold) and wanted something durable. He also likes that platinum develops a patina over time, and we both like the heft.
I picked tungsten because my fiance talked to his man friends and researched and decided that’s what he wants, and I want him to have what he wants, as wearing any sort of jewelry will be enough of an adjustment for him. (He never even wears a watch.) He really wanted a tungsten carbide band with some black on it, but then someone at work who had a band with black on it said the black was scratching off, and I read accounts of that happening, so we have decided to forgo the black…
My guy wears a small 22kt. signet ring which he told me he would continue to wear after we are married, hence no weddig band. Im perfectly OK with that.
I’m trying to talk my Fi into gold, he has a very physical job and I have heard horror stories about some metals not being able to cut off if you hurt your hand – so they have to cut your finger off instead!! :S
@carmensita1: Titanium. I’ve heard too many horror stories about tungsten.
Either plain platinum (with a milgrain edge) or platinum with yellow gold edging. We wanted something classic, and dressy (he’s in suits for work all the time) that matches my platinum set.
Dinosaur bone and meteorite!!
We wanted different, and this definitely is! He’s excited about it, he thinks it’s really cool. 🙂
@pineapplez17: same as my Darling Husband. He didn’t even want me to engrave anything on the inside, just plain!
@Goofball: aw that’s too bad! Mine was okay with an engraving on the inside–he just wanted the outside to be plain.
@carmensita1: there should be an option for “whatever Darling Husband wants”
Darling Husband picked his own metal. he wanted gold. i didn’t care what he had.
I expected Darling Husband to want tungsten or some other alternative to gold. But I was shocked when he wanted gold. He said he wanted to be able to change the size if needed.
His band was totally his choice, and he chose cobalt. He liked how lightweight it is since he wasn’t used to wearing jewelry.
