I don’t like to comment if I see the OP is not an active part of the thread. I like to read what everyone has to say though.

Skim some comments but if there are too many, I’ll skip most & add my comment. If the thread is paticularly juicy, I’ll read them all.

It depends on the topic. If it’s something silly, or the kind of topic where you can answer in a couple of words, I’ll just answer without really reading anyone elses’ response, unless I’m really curious. Usually I don’t care about peoples’ favorite color and stuff like that! I consider those threads an excuse to bump the number of posts I’ve written up (sorry!).

If it’s relationship advice or something like that, I’ll read the OP a few times and then write my response. Then I go back and see what other people are saying. I don’t like others to influence my advice! lol

If it’s a topic on sex or something I almost always read the entire thing before answering just because I’m insanely curious as to what other people do/like/find normal.

If the thread is super long, 5+ pages or something, sometimes I’ll just skim through looking for OP updates if everyone is pretty much saying the same thing. If it’s a more lively debate and I have the time, I might read it straight through.

I read every comment, its a pet peeve of mine when people comment but don’t have all the info because they didn’t read past the OP!

I voted that it depends. If it’s a mindless thread like “what’s your favorite color?” or something like that, I just comment. If it’s something juicy where PP’s may matter, I normally skim. I start by looking for posts by members that I “know” and then go back and reference whatever comments that may be replying to.

I voted it depends (: If it’s a simple thread like ‘what month are you getting married?’ I just post. If it’s something drama filled or juicy, I read all the responses haha. If it’s a normal thread I’ll read through most of the comments and pay special attention to OP updates. If it’s really long then I’ll read the first couple pages and then just skim the rest looking for OP updates.

Depends for me on the thread and how much time I have. If the OP is asking for advice I will almost always read through the higher posts to make sure I’m not just repeating what someone else said. If it is just a “what do you do” like this post I will not usually read the higher posts unless I have a bit of time. I do generally look out for updates from the OP though.

Agreed.  The jucier stuff I read through the comments first though.

Usually I’ll respond first, then read through the thread (if time allows) and then either edit or re-comment – especially if the OP has provided more info.

I do that because I don’t want the other comments to color or alter my response or original gut feeling.  🙂

Usually I just give my two cents unless there is an update from the OP. I like when the OP has an avatar so I can just read those updates.

I will read through all posts on more issue-focused threads, but like PPs said, the ‘fun’ ones I’ll just chime in and read a few if I don’t have a lot of time. If I do read something that’s pretty important to OP but don’t have time to check all the comments or cntl+f for OP updates, I’ll put a little disclaimer in case I hadn’t caught something or was just covering what someone else said above.

It depends on the thread really. It’s a combination of “I like to skim or glance over other posts before commenting, but look out for OP updates” and “I read ALL of the responses especially looking for OP updates.”
