I’m looking for a new set of quality flatware I can use everyday, yet nice enough to use on special occasions. So far I’ve checked: Mikasa, Oneida, Lenox, Waterford, Reed & Barton, and Villeroy & Boch. I’ve also checked a few stores online: Costco, Amazon, Macy’s, Overstock, JCPenny, and Bloomingdales. Have I missed any? I don’t mind if it’s discontinued as long as I can buy a set.
Do you have a favorite set of flatware? Where did you buy it?
Thanks!

I got Oneida curva from Macys. Macys carried that particular style while amazon didn’t. I love costco but the selections were limited & my Darling Husband was too picky. I highly recommend Oneida and as long as you get 18/10 stainless steel, you can’t go wrong.

Ours is the Dune series from Crate and Barrel and I love it. It feels well weighted and balanced and I really like the shapes – very comfortable. It’s held up really well so far (8.5 months) being used every day but also looks fine with fancier plates.

@pren79 Those look so modern. I like the shape of the spoon, but I know my Fi will think they’re too fancy just because of the knife! =P Thanks for the link!
@caitlanc My Fiance would love those! They look so sturdy and substantial, yet simple. I like them too! Thanks for reminding me about Crate and Barrel!

I got Oona from Crate and Barrel and I love them as well. Like @Caitlanc they look modern, simple, but they hold up when serving with fancier dishes as well.

I have to say, Lenox Continental is very simple but some of the STURDIEST flatware I have ever held in my hand!
I also really love Chatham Bead by Wallace.

My fiance and I live together, and when we moved in I didn’t want to have ugly flatware. So we went to Wal-Mart (we were on a budget at the time) and I got the Tuscany design from Oneida. They are really good to use everyday, and I still get compliments on them when we have people over.

We have owned the Gourmet Settings Cruise flatware from Target for about 8 years and it is awesome! It is very durable. We use it every day and not one piece has bent or rusted. It was designed by an architect and has a 50 year warranty. We get lots of compliments on it when we have guests.
