Most of my Christmas music is stuff I inherited from my dad’s collection. Don’t get me wrong a lot of it I really love, but I’d love to hear some great newer versions.
I don’t think I could ever love someone other than Bing Crosby singing White Christmas or Nat King Cole singing The Christmas Song, but I’m sure there are many other versions that could replace my Perry Como, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Mel Torme, and Carpenters.
So what have you got ladies? The First Noel, I’ll Be Home For Christmas, It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas, O Holy Night??? Unique versions of old classics or classical versions done well by newer artists?
I really like Sufjan Stevens version of Away in a Manger, Enya’s version of Silent Night, Reliant K’s version of 12 days of Christmas, and Martina McBride’s version of Do you hear what I hear?

@kala, Darius Rucker was the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish but recently started a solo gig as a country singer.

I love the classics. I also like Straight No Chaser christmas songs.

The Barenaked Ladies and Sarah McLachlan sing a mashup of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen / We Three Kings that is really unique and beautiful.
I also like Selah’s version of O Holy Night.
The Trans-Siberian Orchestra does some pretty cool rock versions of classics like the Nutcracker, Carol of the Bells, etc.
And Straight No Chaser’s version of the 12 Days of Christmas is probably one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.

I love the Nightmare Before Christmas Revisited cd!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqtK6ErYfcM&feature=related Amy Lee- Sallys Song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C26KKL8uMu0&feature=related Flyleaf- What’s This?
I am obsessed with Halloween and my son likes Christmas so Nightmare has always been our amazing compromise (he can sing every single song on NBC so when they redid the cd with all kinds of famous punk pop singers I had to get it lol). I love our creepy Halloween/ Christmas remake cd.

Hmmmm I like a bunch!
Carrie Underwood singing anything, lol
Martina McBride – most of her Christmas album but O, Holy Night is especially good.
Trisha Yearwood O Come All Ye Faithful
Celtic Woman – O Holy Night and most of their Christmas songs
TSO – Wizards in Winter (ok, maybe not a classic but I still love it)
SHeDaisy had a Christmas album I really loved too – Sleigh Ride and Carol of the Bells/Hark the Herald Angels were really good.
Edit: Forgot this great one by Rascal Flatts! I’ll Be Home for Christmas – Love the harmony – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW8wMMIVBFM

This will always be one of my favourite Christmas songs, I just love it. My mom used to play it and the whole cd for us every year. Here it is, Boney M’s “Mary’s Boy Child/Oh My Lord”! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qBNaSkb5lQ
