we’re doing "Put it on paper" by ann nesby featuring al green. It has a funny background story to it.. basically me asking my fiance when he wants to put it on paper. lol so we;ve loved it ever since. but i want to mix it with a modern love song. so im saving this board to get some ideas!!!!
but i would use something personal from your life.. ANTYHING. something you’ll remember forever. not necessarily what’s the normal wedding songs y aknow?!

My cousin got married recently, and he and his wife used "Bless the Broken Road" for their ceremony music. It was perfect for them and their relationship (totally uncharacteristic of me, but I’m getting a little teary remembering it!).
We won’t be having dancing — which is fortunate, I suppose, since my dearly beloved is the most spastic dancer you’ve ever seen. He looks like Gumby throwing a fit when he dances, lol. BUT music is super important to us, so we’re giving our guests a CD as one of the wedding favors (I know it’s been done to death, but we want to get the music in there somewhere) and the first song will be Lucinda Williams’s "World Without Tears," which would be our first dance song if we were having a first dance 🙂

Our song will be Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. An unusual pick I suppose, but I think it’s one of the most beautiful, uplifting pieces of music ever written, and I sort of like the fact that no one will understand the lyrics (they’re in Icelandic) but my fiance and me. Translated the title means "Puddle Hopping" which would be an appropriate choice if it ends up raining on our spring wedding day! (But I still hope it doesn’t rain of course, lol)

Oh by David J Matthews. We are big big fans of DMB and my fiance choose the song…chorus:
I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven overflow and fill hell
Love you oh so well

- Wedding: June 2020 - Holy Family Catholic Church, reception: National Infantry Museum
The nearness of you (which Norah Jones recorded most recently) but probably either Frank Sinatra or Ella Fitxgerald’s version.

Trying to surprise my fiance with a rendition of Harvest Moon sung by one of his favorite local bands.
Other choices we’ve talked about are, Better Together (Jack Johnson), Two of Us (The Beatles), and The way I am (Ingrid Michaelson)…we have too many "our" songs, but that’s a good problem to have.
LisaG —- LOVE Sigur Ros…so beautiful!
