We had absolutely no intention of doing a first dance: neither one of us are very good dancers, we didn’t take dance lessons and couldn’t decide on a song. So we thought we wouldn’t do one. Well, when the time came for the band to switch from dinner music to dancing music, everyone wanted us to do one, so the band just picked something and sang it. I think it was For This Moment or From this Moment, which I think is a Celine Dion song maybe? And we never in a million years would ever pick Celine Dion, but we were able to ham it up and had a lot of fun doing it! So the song doesn’t have special meaning for us, but the dance did : )

Adele’s cover of Dylan’s To Make You Feel My Love.  FI is a huge SNL fan and has tried to get tix to a taping ever since he moved to NYC.  I was able to surprise him with tickets last year (my fav gift I’ve EVER given him – his face was like a 5 yr old at Christmas!), and Adele was the music guest for that episode.

I love this discusion!

You ladies have some great and un-typical (if thats a word) selections.

Love to see the girls representing Pearl Jam, 311 and Van Morrison.

wagamama Thanks for mentioning that Sade song. I totally forgot about that. but always loved it since the first time I heard it on an episode of Sex & the City. Might have to reconsider.

We are also dancing to “Love Song” by 311…we both love the group and my fiance hates singing, but he sang this to me after our first big fight…and told me that this is the song we would dance to at our wedding…a couple months later we were engaged and that was the first detail of our wedding planned!

My fiance told me tonight he wants the first song to be “You and Me” by Dave Mathews! He wants to take dance lessons and do a real dance! Still in Shock!

I am going to dance with my dad to Ronnie Milsap, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! It is about a couples realationship but i think it fits us perfect  and you can interpet it as he is giving me away to my husband! I think the song is perfect for us!

We’re doing La Vie en Rose by Louis Armstrong.  We love old music, so it works for us.  We were actually struggling to pick a song and then we were at a wedding where they played it – after the first few notes we both just looked @ each other and lightbulbs went off.  ๐Ÿ™‚

We danced to You are my Sunshine (the version from O Brother Where Art Thou).  Everyone started singing along which really surprised me, but it was really cool.

Lucky – Jason Mraz… it was fitting b/c of the references to the oceans, breezes through the trees, flower in your hair.  We had all of those things a stone’s throw away ๐Ÿ™‚ Though please don’t throw anything at my hair..

We’re going to dance to “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones because that was what was playing when my Fiance proposed. If we don’t use that we’ll use “Lay Lady Lay” by Bob Dylan which was our song until we got engaged.
