Hi bees, I was just wondering what song everyone had chosen for their first dance? Turns out my Fiance is very picky with songs (and everything else) and so far has not liked my picks. Also, we are both hispanics, so all our family will most likely expect a spanish song, but I’m leaning more towards english 🙂 so tell me, what did you pick?

We haven’t officially decided but right now, we’re either going with La Vie en Rose (the version from Wall-E) or What a Wonderful World sung by Louis Armstrong.

Oh I like What a Wonderful World 🙂 I’m trying to think of songs, but mostly all the ones I like are country and they have been used like a billion times in other weddings, Fiance wants something different.

We havent decided yet. But heres the list.
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars (My favorite)
Lonestar – Amazed (Probably too overdone. Plus his family arent country fans, so they most likely wouldnt like it.)
Christina Perry – A Thousand Years (His personal favorite. He sings quotes from this song to me all the time.0
Righteous Brothers – Unchained Melody (I LOVE this song. I just dont know if I would want it for my first dance.)
Uncle Kracker – Smile (I cant believe I forgot this one. Its my second favorite next to Chasing Cars. We both love this song, but I’ve never heard of it as a first dance song, so I’m not sure how it would be received.)

@allyfally: I just heard Christina Perrri-A thousand years earlier and told him to hear it, I asked if he would dance to that and all he said was idk, thats a very nice song.
I love Amazed but he said the same thing that it was overdone.

@lioness_89: Fiance hates country so that automatically ruled out all of those for us, haha. We’re trying to pick something that hasn’t been overdone too. I think right now we’re leaning more towards What a Wonderful World. I’m sure it’s used quite a bit, but not really for our age group among our friends. Most of our friends have been picking newer songs so we’re looking for something a little older.
ETA: Also, we’re super picky about the lyrics, so we’ve also been looking at instrumentals from movies we enjoy, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
ETA2: Haha, another thing to think about is how long of a dance you want. I know for us, we didn’t want it to be too long because we didn’t want it to start getting awkward towards the end. So we’ve tried to keep our options around 3 minutes, give or take.

@AubByAub: That is very true that it may not be used as much amongst our age group but Fiance wants a newer song and well good thing I still have plenty of time to look. I would like to keep it around 3 as well, I was thinking about that when I was hearing all these songs that are close to 5 minutes, too long!

@lioness_89: Haha right? I would feel so weird dancing that long with everyone just watching us lol. I’ll keep thinking, and let you know if I come up with anything!

Ours is ‘let there be love’ by Oasis because that’s our song, and we’re massive Oasis fans 🙂
If we didn’t have ‘a song’ then I wouldn’t have a clue what to pick, but I’d want something quite fun and upbeat. I’m not looking forward to the first dance really… me in heels + everyone’s eyes on me = going to fall over on my face.

I, abiet in a state of madness!, agreed for my partner to pick our first dance song without me knowing until we do the dance!!!
I have a sneeky suspicion that he’ll be writing and producing it though!

We’re dancing to the book of love by Peter Gabriel. We both love the song and when it was the very last scene in the scrubs finale my Fiance said that’s our first dance song. This was a few years before we even got engaged so that was a special moment for us when we first talked about wanting to marry each other seriously

We danced to “When you Kiss Me” by Shania Twain. The guitar strings kind of make it sound spanish.

“You Make it Real” by James Morrison. It’s a beautiful song.

We used Jason Mraz/Colbie Calliat ‘Lucky’ and we had it sung by my Maid/Matron of Honor and a Groomsmen. It was cool to have it live.
However I regret not using the song that has slightly more meaning to us and always gives me warm fuzzies: Snow Patrol- Chasing Cars. This was our original, obvious choice, but then my sister made fun of us:
“How fitting is that? ‘If I just lay here would you lie with me and just forget the world’ You know, cause he lays and watches tv a lot (i.e. is lazy).”
It made me upset enough that we chose a different song. Wish I had ignored her… but still loved the live performance of Lucky.

we will be dancing to ‘How do I Live’ by Trisha Yearwood 🙂
