We talk a lot about our first dance songs – I’m curious if you’re planning your last dance of the night? FH and I want to pick a great song to end the night with too but have no idea what we want to dance to.
(Love will Keep Us Alive is our first dance)

We did You Can’t Stop the Beat from the musical Hairspray as our last dance, but I’m a huge musical theater nerd, as were most of the people who actually stuck around til the end. 🙂 The DJ actually snuck in At Last by Etta James to wind things completely down, but I consider YCSTB as our real last dance song. It was so fun, we were all belting it at the top of our lungs!

Ours is “What A Feeling” by Irene Cara. I think it fits as a last dance happy song and its really meant to be kind of a nod to my mother. Its the theme song from Flashdance, her favorite movie, which the rest of us (me, my Fiance, my stepdad) all hate. She has made me and my stepdad watch that movie with her probably 30 times. We make fun of her for it all the time, but she absolutely loves that song/movie. I’m an only child and my mom and I are super close. The things she has done for me in her life are more than what most moms ever would or would have to do. She doesn’t know we’re playing it so I know she’ll be super surprised. We have a confetti cannon that’ll be going off during this song, too.
You know what else? My name is Alexandra and when I realized the main character in Flashdance was named Alexandra I just about died. I refuse to believe I am named after that terrible movie 😛 She says I’m not but it seems awfully coincidental.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Wynn Las Vegas
“Champagne Supernova” by Oasis. It was one of the most memorable moments of the reception. EVERYONE got involved…emotional.

- Wedding: November 2011 - Florida Aquarium
We did two– The first was “A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes”- the Cinderella song (Our first dance was “Tale as Old as Time) and the final song was “A Really Cool Dance Song” by Bowling for Soup. It was super fun!

We used Jack Johnson’s I’ve got you. I absolutely love the song. It was our last Slow dance and like third to last song of the night. People just wanted to keep dancing so the dj kept playing even after the ‘last dance’, which I was totally fine with.
in my family the last dance is pretty common. People join in a big circle around the bride and groom, holding hands. Parts of the circle take turns rushing in toward the bride and groom for group hugs. For me it was a really special part of our reception.

Sweet Caroline =) (Buh, Buh, Buhhhh!)
It was a blast, everyone eventually ended in a huge circle around us on the dance floor and we bounced around singing the classic song
… Good times never felt so good (So Good, So Good, So GOOD!)

I have been thinking Make You Feel My Love by Adele but I’m not 100% yet on that. It will be the second to last song but our last dance. Then an upbeat one for us to walk around the circle and hug everyone. I’m getting emotional thinking about it!!!!

Once in a Lifetime – Landon Austin
I really love the lyrics and feeling of the song, but wasn’t sold on it for our first dance… so it’s going to be our last dance (: I think it fits our afternoon cocktail reception perfectly.

Not sure what ours was (we went out dancing, so when we went to leave we had to find my drunk ass godmother and Mom!)
But I went to a wedding where theirs was “Bye Bye Bye”, which was AWESOME!

Ours was Martina Mcbride and Pat Monahan “Marry Me”. It was super emotional and memorable. However, no one was done celebrating, and with a super cool DJ and event coordinator, they let us carry on for one more song. Since the DJ is a good friend of my Darling Husband and works often at the venue, the last song went on for a good 10 minutes. He did a mix of all the great 90’s club music… Salt n Pepa, Will smith, Rob Base, Run DMC .. it was AMAZING !

I can’t remember what was our last fast song – I’m sure it was the typical journey don’t stop believing. However, I do remember our last slow dance was babyface’s every time I close my eyes. My husband picked our last slow song and didn’t want me to know before the wedding!
