Solitaire (with any cut/stone) to ME = boring

I”m not a round brilliant fan either…..princess cut is my all time fav!

Edited for spelling

stones that are set east-west or diagonal in a setting, I just want to straighten them! I also hate settings that are not symmetrical on either side or where the metal is brushed to give it a more “nature-like” appearance. Also, don’t like diamonds that have a “crushed ice” look

I don’t like quad diamonds.  To me it looks like you couldn’t afford 1 nice diamond so you went with 4 small ones.

Dislike quad sets, dislike solitare diamonds. Boring. Cute for some people, but I like a ring with character. Including emerald & marquise cuts. I know they seem “old” to some people, but marquise is lovely to me, and reminds me of my grandmom, whom I miss sorely!

This thread was probably more about engagement ring styles, but I just have I really dislike pinky rings. They bother me a lot.

@Arshim:  It’s not a cheap ring either! IMO, it looks it. Cheap and costume-y and HUGE. Weirdly huge, though. I do love a big ring, but that one doesn’t look right. A girl I used to be friends with had it (before her ex-fiance threw it into the lake), so I’ve seen it in person.

I used to really dislike solitaires (of any cut) and anything set in yellow gold, but now I find myself admiring a lot of solitaires, as well as liking yellow gold more and more. I always thought the only rings I would truly like would be halo rings set in white gold or platnium.  I guess our tastes gradually change or expand without us even realizing it. I am not sure that I even have a least favorite ring style anymore, although I still cannot get myself to love bezel settings.

@brunetti626:  I have a bezel ring, but oddly enough I prefer the look of prongs. I just know my jewelry tendencies well enough to know that I destroy them!

Since joining WB and BTD my dislikes have changed.  At some point I have seen a verison of a style or  shape that I use to hate that I feel in love with.

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I really don’t like BIG rings. Most rings over 1 ctw fit in that category for me, but even some rings that are smaller than that. I just feel like they lose the sentimentality in the “bling.” Like it’s more of a social statement than a statement of love, maybe? There are some exceptions…but biiiig rings (2 ct+) definitely make me cringe. I begged Fiance for a smaller ring so it could be “just ours.”

Please don’t take offense if you have a big ring. :/ It’s just my conservative opinion!

Also, when Fiance and I started talking about rings, we both wanted him to choose the ring rather than shopping together, and while I would have been happy with countless designs, I told him specifically what I didn’t want: a halo, white gold, a princess cut, or anything blunky. There’s not really anything to those opinions, just my personal style. 🙂

I don’t like solitaires. That’s the one thing DH knew not to get me.

I don’t like the marquise, oval, heart or really the round shaped stone either.

I don’t know jack about the “set” and don’t really pay attention to prongs, etc.

ETA: I don’t like the pear shape either.

I dont like “cocktail” rings. Those huge gaudy rings that are just made to be huge and in yo face. I also dont really like princess cuts. The lines are just too harsh for me.

Anything where there are small stones in an illusion setting to make it look like it is one big diamond. Ie, cluster or quads.

But unlike many who have posted I love, love, love bezel settings (I have one) and also marquise diamonds. Takes all sorts, I guess 🙂
