Heart shaped diamonds (I think they’re tacky), round cut solitaires (they’re classic and timeless, but boring IMO), quad or cluster rings.

I didn’t know so many people disliked princess cuts! I’m curious as to why so many people don’t like them (I don’t have one, am not offended by anyone’s dislike of them, just curious!). Anyone care to elaborate?

@Big Truck:  I personally am not a big fan of them, possibly because of the fact it has edges, and fingers are more round than square.

@Big Truck:  The corners are too severe for my taste. I associate the sharp squares with men’s jewelry for some reason. I like them better with the “cut corner” style.

@Nurse_Bee:  That is gorgeous!  There have been a lot of things I thought I didn’t like but something someone posts on the Bee proves me wrong!

I’m surprised that so many posters don’t like princess cuts given how popular they are at the moment.  I’m not a fan myself, nothing against princess owners.  I also don’t like halos that show a lot of metal, and square halos.

@happyface:  This is my least favorite too!  It’s such an odd trend to have this giant rock (or halo, or whatever) perched on this tiny little thin band.  Those styles, unfortunately, aren’t going to last forever.  One good hit and that thing will snap right off.  I know little bitty dainty bands are in style, it’s just seems weird to spend that much money on something that won’t last.

Solitaires are my least favorite. They are just so boring. Also, not a fan of yellow gold.

I love halos, they are so pretty and sparkly 🙂

Clear stones just don’t twirl my skirt so I’m not fond of regular diamonds.  I did, however, get a blue diamond SS band as an alternative wedding band when I don’t feel comfortable wearing my set.  🙂

As far as setting I hate hate hate the halo setting.  To me it just an ugly cluster trend that will pass just like the ugly cluster rings of the 80s.

Show me something sparkly, and I am bound to find something I like about it. At least something I could have my jeweler redo and then like…

I am not a fan of hearts (though I have seen some lovelies here) For some reason, they just seem like something I would have picked as a youngster, but not something I would want at 40+.

I also prefer solitaires or one main diamond rather than cocktail, dinner looking rings for an engagement.

I’m not a huge fan of bezel rings or the rings that are HUGE. I cannot stand massive stones, it’s just always been my thing. I’m not a big solitaire fan, either. No offense towards anyone who has those styles, they’re just not my thing.

It’s interesting to see everyone’s different opinions!

i have a lot of NONO’s, but the least favorite are rough or not well-cut stones and rose gold. worst cuts for me are pear, marquise and baguette.

Okay I have zero vocabulary when it comes to ring terminoloy… but I think it might be called solitaire? I don’t like it when it’s just a plain band and then one diamond. No offense! For me it’s just too plain… I need more to look at. This is what I’m talking about:

It is pretty… but I’m just surprised that sooooo many people have them.

Hmm, in general I’m not a fan of marquise, east to west settings, heart, cluster, quad, pave, millgrain (knowing me, all the gunk I’d trap in there!), thin prongs, overly thick V shaped prongs that totally overwhelm princess cuts, 3 stone when all stones are the same size, and white gold. Picky picky…

I do love halos, even tho I don’t own one, and adore my channel set band. I love yellow and rose gold.
