Sometime between now and 2040, I’d like to go on a long vacation to Italy or Paris or Disney!!
I think it would be fun to go to the Olympics someday.
I want to see my nephew grow up, graduate and go to college.
Maybe get a cat.
That’s about it! I really don’t know how to pin it down any more firmly than that.

Hahah I’m currently 20, SO is 21.
We want to get married when I’m 22, SO is 22/23 (we talk about maybe getting married during his birth month so he could be either age).
Not entirely sure when we’ll start, but we want to be done with our 2-3 kids before I’m 30, before he’s 31.

Will be getting married at 25. Planning on kids around 27/28. That’s really it for our plans right now LOL. My Fiance purchased our condo last year but once he is done with his PhD we will either rent it out or sell it and buy a new house that is better for raising a family. He also just bought a new car last Spring. My car is a 2001, I plan on running it to the ground and then who knows after that.

Originally, I wanted to be married by 25, and have kids before I was 30. I had my daughter at 23 and Fiance and I will be getting married when I’m 25. We’re hoping to buy a house by the summer of next year, or a few months after the wedding.

@Pokemon: a house already that is awesome how are you doing this. I need to know!!!

@beemo: sheer determination!!
we are earning combined $5020 a month and are saving $3000. rent is $1200 a month, so we are spending bare min for 3 months to get this house deposit! then back to our normal savings of $1800-$2000 a month.
We are paying for our wedding ourselves as well as honeymoon and thats equalling $25000 so every penny counts!

These timelines stress me out! ha ha. I like to have everything nailed down and planned out, but with our lifestyle (FI is airforce) its super hard to do. Our biggies, like buying a house and TTC have to be planned around postings and deployments and trips that can change att he drop of a hat. It can be frustrating!
Our ideal plan is as follows:
2012 (I’m 23, he’s 29)Engaged,
2013 (I’m 24, He’s 30)April – Get Married May – He is away for approx 6 months
2014 (I’m 25, he’s 31) He’s home, post to Adelaide and buy our first house. Apply for Virgin, hopefully get accepted and discharge.
2015 (I’m 26 he’s 32) Start TTC!!!!
Putting TTC off for so long kills me, but it’s the best scenario as far as us being stable and having a good enough income for me to be able to stay home with the babies.
Here’s hoping things play out SOMEWHAT close to our ideal scenario!!!

@Pokemon: That’s awesome. I don’t forsee myself buying a house for at least another 10 years and I’m 5 years older than you!
My main problem is my pets. I need a property large enough for my german shepherd, rottweiler, american bulldog and jack russell.
I’m paying $2500 per month on rent. All the “suitable” properties (ie similar to the house we are renting at the moment) are $1million plus, which means that I would need to save at least $200k for a deposit otherwise I probably would have to pay for mortgage insurance. For a 25 year loan, I’d have to pay $5100 per month. And if I didn’t do extra payments, I’d be spending the first 7 years just paying off the interest!
Argh, no life plans for me. It’s too depressing

@babecake: where do you live!!!
I pay $1200 a month rent for a 4 bedroom, + office house with a massive backyard. its a walk from town but in a quiet cuddelsack. Also allows pets and i have two cats and a lab x golden retriever.
the houses we are looking at buying are all 3+ bedrooms with backyards all fully fenced plus newly ish renovated because i dont want a fixer upper as a first home and they are $250k to max $270k
Mortage insurance is only an extra $40 a month and we are looking at repayments of $1700-1800 a month

@Pokemon: I wish houses were that affordable in Melbourne 🙁
I work in the city and currently live 26kms out of the CBD AND the houses in my area are $1M plus AND they’re in the western suburbs. Since it takes me about an hour to get to work on a good day (2.5 hours on an absolutely shocking day), I can’t really move further out where the more affordable houses are.
Not sure if you know where templestowe is but that’s where I’d love to buy a house.

@babecake: yeah no clue where sorry, i live in Queensland about 2hours from Brisbane

We met in early 2009, went long distance, graduated our respective universities.
Moved into our first place together in late 2010.
Left our jobs in New York to teach English in Korea in early 2012
Got engaged in August 2012
Getting married in August 2013
Moving to another Korean city in maybe 2014
Moving to Japan in 2015 or 2016 depending on how things are going here in SK.
Moving back to the US… someday?!? Who knows?! We’ve discussed Hawaii, Colorado, and Maryland as possibilites for distant future, but Thailand and Vietnam are also on the table. Depends on finances at the time and what qualifications we have.
We’re not really the “stay in one place” type and have agreed to never buy a house or have a child, so our timeline is always going to seem a little… loose/alternative.

@babecake: western melbourne suburbs here too! our limit is 350k to start us off. The traffic is horrendous but we don’t want to move any further out either.
We really haven’t got a set time line. Just a few lets do this
May 2013 – Gettin’ hitched.
June 2013 – Japan
Some stage next year start building (hopefully!)
