mrskornegaytobe:  Thanks! I believe I went through about 12-14 dollar store bags of petals (300 petals per bag).  I finished it in two weekends, or as I like to time it– Lord of the Rings Trilogy, extended director’s cut — is the time it took to finish.

It was so easy and very inexpensive.  Make sure you have a lot of glue sticks and several movies lined up.

I think the project that I really poured myself into was the wedding invitations, I painted them by hand and it took lots of drafts before I was pleased with the end result. As I didn’t have a light board at that point it was a complete pain to redraw each draft over and over again!

And this is the crest that I painted for the insert:

I’m still working on DIY projects… I guess I’ll let you know which one was the most painful when I’m done.

dv3849:  wow! My most ambitious DIY will be doing all the boutonnieres and bouquets. I am ordering them online and putting them together two days before. I really suck at caring for plants but I chose the heartiest/easiest ones so hope it will be ok!

Ok bees, I’m trying to undertake a very ambitious project… but I know I can do it. I just need your help to figure out what to call the backing/panel of this thing so I can google it, buy it and get started.

What I’m making:

It’s a red floral backdrop… composed of about 1,000 roses/posies. It’s made of about 14 of these individual sized panels:

Which look like this on the back:

and

What I need help with is coming up w/ search terms for the green “trellis” looking thing so that I can find a similar product to get me started…

HELP!

Liss13:  Thank you! It did its duty well.  The cake was in the center and cookies, brownies, caramels (etc) were on the “arms.”

No pro pics yet (married 3 whole weeks now), but here is a shot of it in action–

Pictures of our dessert/ice cream/candy bar make me hungry all over again! I think I’m going to try to sell it locally, or I’ll need to find a way to repurpose it again (bird feeder perhaps?).

I am going to try and make this ^ except with paper hearts instead of flowers. Right now the biggest problem is trying to decide what to use in the place of the candlesticks (or where to rent giant candlesticks). It’s going to take forever, but I think the final look will be worth it!

Soooo many good ideas on here. I am trying to keep my diy low because I’m having a dw but I really want to do hangers and A card box. I made my own bouquet though so far and that was a lot of work but fun. 🙂 I have a tweaks left messing with some ribbon and adding a few more pieces.
