@Leprechaun:

I think a lot of it has to do with Casey. If she hadnt been lying for so long we’d probably be over it by now. But the fact that Caylee was ‘missing’ for 31 days and Casey was partying the whole time is what’s most disgusting. Add in the lying and crazy behavior and it’s hard not to be fascinated. While the microwave incident is awful it probably didn’t get the attention of everyone for as long because the whole country wasn’t searching for the child. And there weren’t a huge web of crazy lies being told throughout the media (as far as I know)

The defense team really sucks because they doth protest too much.  Trying to convince a jury that Casey is mother of the year and an innocent victim of, well, everything and everyone in her life, is never going to happen.

You want to defend this case and have some semblance of credibility with the jury, you tell them, sure, Casey’s a liar, irresponsible, immature, inappropriate, emotionally stunted.  Caylee drowned and Casey covered it up for all of the above reasons… sure, she wasn’t all broken up about her child’s accidental death the way normal people would be; she never really wanted to be a mother to begin with.  But where is the proof of murder?  The forensics are thin, and much of it fits the theory of an accident/cover-up just as well as murder (however she died, Caylee’s corpse didn’t walk itself into the woods).

Again, I think she’s 100% guilty of all charges, but I’m wondering whether there will be some ineffective assistance of counsel charges when the conviction is handed down.

@Leprechaun:

I also agree with PP why this case has gained so much attention. You have a woman who literally had no truth to anything in her life. Everyone around her couldn’t even see it. I don’t even think she could see it. She was so convinced of her own lies that she took police all the way to an office door in Universal Studios that she claimed was her own before telling them it wasn’t. Two years she upheld a fictitious job, while having a fictitious nanny, and partying likely it was her job. Meanwhile she had parents who adored their grandchild, her little girl. I believe the attention Caylee received from George and Cindy drove Casey nuts. I remember someone involved with Leonard Padilla saying that while she was in the house she commenting on a picture of baby Caylee. Casey’s immediate response was to bring a baby picture of herself over and talk about how cute SHE was. She’s a sick person. Ultimately, I just think people are fascinated that she is so deeply disturbed and more and more of her disturbing behavior comes out on the daily.

@Leprechaun:  This case got a lot of national media attention because it originally began as a nationwide amber alert when Casey was still claiming that Caylee was abducted by a made up babysitter.

I absolute 100% believe she’s guilty… but I worry that the prosecution has not submitted enough forensic proof.

Cindy Anthony should be put in jail for purjory (I don’t know how that word is spelled…)

@ohheavenlyday: I think what’s going to end up happening is the defense will drop the abuse defense because putting Casey on the stand is too big a risk (then again, maybe there’s really nothing to lose at this point).  Prosecutors will point out to the jury that the defense promised proof of molestation to explain Casey’s 31 days of partying, and did not deliver.  Defense will say they decided to drop it because the state didn’t prove its case, so no need.  But it will be too little, too late; you can’t throw something so inflammatory out there and not back it up (well, you can, but you’ll lose credibility with the jury).  Like you said, they never should have gone there in the first place.

@ohheavenlyday: “The worst thing about this case is we will NEVER know what happened to Caylee, because Casey is the only one who knows the truth and she’s either unwilling or incapable of telling the truth about it. It is so sad for that little girl.”

So true. 🙁

there is no doubt in my mind that she’s guilty. But I am against capital punishment and think she should be given a life sentence. Her parent’s have gone through enough trauma as it is.

I believe she is guilty. People should move on though. This is crazy. Have you seen people effing fighting outside to get into the courthouse like it was a night club?!
Any mom who can just go on normally for even 5 minutes knowing that her child is missing is fucked up.

This is not Baez’s first murder trial.  His first murder client was Nilton Diaz.  The charge was Murder 2 and he got Man 2 (20 years).

I think she’s 100% guilty.  That being said, she won’t get the death penalty.  I don’t want her to either.  I think it’s horrible that her parents have already lost their precious granddaughter.  I honestly don’t want them to have to see their daughter be put to death, no matter how evil she is.

What I still don’t understand is why the defense is trying so hard to discredit all of the testimony and other evidence establishing that the body was in the trunk of the car (95% of forensic evidence pertains to the trunk of the car – the stench, the hair with postmortem banding, the coffin flies…).  A body in the trunk is consistent with the theory of defense.

The defense’s only theory is that Caylee drowned and Casey dumped the body at the behest of her evil, sexually abusive father.  Why not admit that the body was in the car, but so what?  The dead little girl didn’t teleport into the swamp or wherever the meter reader supposedly found her.  Are we really supposed to believe that George dumped the body using some other car and it’s a total coincidence that there is all manner of evidence of a dead body in Casey’s car?

That it makes me fucking sick to think so many people get away with horrible crimes simply because they claim to have been abused as a child. Give me a freaking break. Abuse is a horrible, horrible thing. But how about taking admittance for your own damn actions and stop saying you did something horrible because someone did something horrible to you. Part of growing up is coming to this realization.

@Miss Tattoo:

I have to say I was SICKENED when I saw the people running and laughing to get their seat in the courtroom. All of those people should be ashamed of themselves. A little girl is dead, and these people are treating it like an amusement park ride. I wish I could have personally slapped each, and every single one of them.
