I’m a full-time nanny at the moment.  My English degree is currently getting me…nowhere.

But I start classes this fall to get my RN.

Well I’m currently unemployed but got my degree in Meeting and Destination Mgmt. It sounded very cool at the time and the advisor totally sold me on it by making it sound oh so glam and glitzy. The reality is that I live in Oklahoma and there’s not that many event planning jobs in the area…especially since I live an hour from Tulsa. Plus many of the jobs require at least 3 years of experience, which I don’t have. I think it would have just been easier to go work at a hotel and work my way up to being a Catering or Event Manager. Ugh. The plus side is that my future fiance makes very good money as an inspector on the pipeline. Since his job require him to travel all over and he wants me to be with him I don’t have to work at the moment.  But, at the end of the year he’s planning on returning to school to finish an engineering degree since the pipeline boom is about to go bust. Then I guess I’ll try to find something that I can utilize this almost worthless degree for.  I thought about going back and getting a teaching degree for HS world history and geography. But honestly, I took my sweet time getting the first degree and taking classes for fun and 2 more years just sounds like no fun!

I am a respiratory therapist at a children’s hospital. Most people have NO idea what this is…lol. I work in the ICU’s with children on life support (ventilators). I am incharge of the machine, it’s settings, making changes and assesing the patients. I also work with the non intubated patients making sure their oxygen therapy is correct.

I love working with kids-but I don’t like beings scared all of the time. It’s a pretty overwhelming thing to see a child die before your eyes…luckily I work in one of the best hospitals in the world for kids, so our sucesses far ourweigh our failures.

I was a nanny for 10 years before that-with a degree in fashion merchindising and design-but couldn’t find a job to pay the bills-so I went back to school! 🙂 I loved being a  nanny and still do it part time!

I’m an archaeologist (it’s true, it’s a real profession).  I just finished my PhD and am now doing post-doctoral research.  It’s definitely better than a ‘real job’, but it can be incredibly isolating.  Also, I find field work really tedious, so the summers in exotic places aren’t always all fun!

I’m currently an Engineer and I hate it so I’m back in school getting my Masters in Education to be a teacher!! Total opposite ends of the spectrum! haha

Customer Service Agent (makes Charlie’s Angels "gun hands") for a company that sells HP ink to bulk mailers… I sell the ink that prints your address on junk mail! 😀

I LOVE my job – except when customers are mean! 🙁 Thankfully, that doesn’t happen too often!

I currently work for the Department of Homeland Security as an IT Auditor. I have absolutely no IT background and am going to school for a masters in policy. It’s relative enough that it keeps me busy most days.

I worked with res life all through undergrad (and spent my summers running a res life program for a gifted hs summer camp – Duke TIP for any southerners out there) and enjoyed it. I have a feeling I wouldn’t have liked it for much longer.

I would LOVE to work outdoors for a while. Being a park ranger out west would be amazing. But really, when you boil it down, I’d love to work behind the scenes in politics – either developing policy (security/military related) or as a speech writer (undergrad degrees in PR and poli sci). *daydreams*

I’m a software engineer and I work on accounting systems.   I love my job because of the people I work with and the flexibility.  Developing accounting systems isn’t the most exciting thing.

I secretly want to be a dermatologist.

I’m a museum educator and most of the time I absolutely love it.  I design and run all sorts of public programs for adults (although in my last museum I ran the youth education).  Its fun and always a little different.  There are busy periods that really take it out of me though.  There’s nothing like running programs every weekend in a month…

I am a high school teacher and love it!  I teach senior English and History, and although the marking sometimes kills me, I cannot picture myself doing anything different.  Every day I am reminded of how lucky I am to work with children and teens, because judging from my interaction with some parents, adults are crazy!

I sell medical and surgical supplies, but I love it and hate it.  It’s never what I saw myself doing, but it pays well and I have a company car.  In these times, all the stuff helps!  I would love to have been an interior designer, but never saw myself making enough money.  This post is great- it’s amazing what professions all the bees have!

I am a high school librarian and I LOVE my job!  The kids and teachers I work with are great (most of the time!) and no two days are ever the same!
