I cannot walk on grates or sewers on public sidewalks. CANNOT. I am fine with other people doing it, I understand the structure and how secure they are, I cannot step on them.

I don’t like the idea of being trapped under water.

I am an excellent swimmer. I love being in the water – but the thought of being trapped there terrifies me! I don’t like driving beside open water, because I have the irrational fear that the car is going to wreck, roll off into the water, and I won’t be able to find a way out before I drown.

Same idea with boats. I HATE BOATS. I feel like they will overturn and as I try to escape my legs will get caught in something and I will be stuck underneath the boat where I will drown.

Mine is pretty specific. Slipping down a slope and off a ledge. Heights don’t bother me,and the actual falling doesn’t worry me its the thought of sliding off the edge of a cliff or something, really slowly and scrabbling at the ground trying to get a hold of something, ugh it gives me shivers!

I am also deathly afraid of spiders,I used to be able to kill them but now I simply sob and retch at them until DH rescues me!

I’m scared of over thinking basically. Like thinking how many pieces of sand are on a beach. Absolutely blows my mind. Also, I am afraid of spiders under the toilet seat of outhouses and refuse to use them.

BLOOD.

I feel almost physical pain when people talk about blood…I can barely stand to type the word…I feel like passing out just thinking about it.

And I can’t stand anything related to it…like my own pulse, hearing FI’s heartbeat, getting shots, having blood drawn, having a tourniquet, having limbs fall asleep, having a blood pressure cuff on. I can’t stand hearing about veins or arteries.

The only blood related thing I can handle is meat…I cook a lot and the blood on meat does not bother me much at all, except I hate the way it smells. Oh, and my period. I can handle my period..lol.

I absolutely fear electricity so if I have a wrinkled shirt that needs to be ironed, I rather wear the wrinkled shirt before plugging anything to an outlet. Also lighting, I cant drive if it’s raining because my instant reaction is to close my eyes and hug myself if lighting strikes. Annoying and dangerous.

I’m afraid of the dark. I guess that might not be ridiculous for a child but I feel as though I should have gotten over it by now. When DH isn’t home I sleep with a night light…

@Arshim:  My phobia is not so odd, it’s what it makes me want to do that I am told is strange. My fear is heights. Ferris wheels and bridges. Balconies. Omg. Even semi-tall ladders.Oh jeez. But a fear of heights is not that bad. What happens when I am somewhere high up is that I get weak knees. Then a little nausea. Then I get nervous, my whole body gets nervous. And then I want to jump. Just to end that feeling. I need to get down RIGHT NOW! I would rather die than sit atop a ferris wheel for ten minutes. All I can think about is my car falling. The whole wheel crumbling underneath me. OMG. Last time I went on a ferris wheel (It was early summer of 2003) I almost did jump. It was a serious internal battle to stay seated. I have not been on a ferris wheel since.

@missfroggy Haha! I totally do the same thing! Who knows who is hiding behind your shower curtain?!

The other odd thing: I’m also super scared of bees. I’m not allergic, but I got stung when I was five and then the very next week my friend I were catching bees in glass jars for some reason and he dropped the jar and got stung. Those experiences back-to-back make it so I just run when I see bees (even though I know the sane thing to do is stand still). Tongue Out
