I guess this could be considered part rant, but it’s most curiosity.
My Fiance and I have almost the exact same taste in TV; we watch all the same shows together and love them. But when it comes to movies, we can’t get a long at all! We had a (very) minor tiff last night about comedy. He wanted to watch The Campaign, I told him I was sick to death of politics and I wasn’t really interested in seeing it. He’s brought the movie up before, and I’ve said – not interested, feel free to watch it while I’m at work.
He just seemed to get so upset and couldn’t understand why I thought I wouldn’t like it. Seemed to blow his mind… “But it’s Judd Apatow! But you like the Hangover. But you liked Knocked Up. But Anchorman!” Yeah I liked those but none of Judd Apatow’s 8,000 other movies.
Usually I’ll give a movie a chance even if I’m hesitant about it. I just didn’t care for this one and it opened up the discussion. Fiance says my funny bone is all wonky and told me I hate comedy.
I don’t though! You know what I think’s funny? National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Kickass. Spinal Tap. Monty Python. Young Frankenstein.
I don’t get Adam Sandler. Will Ferrell is either big hit or big miss. Same for Seth Rogen. Steve Carrell ehhhh. Jim Carey weirds me right out.
I don’t know guys… is my funny bone broken? I’m just sick to death of comedy shoved so far down my throat. Why do these guys have to be in every ‘funny’ movie? I’m tired of Jonah Hill’s face and it seems like these guys play similar characters in every movie.
