Music was a big problem. I like too much, he didn’t care. I narrowed it down to about 3 songs. Played them for him a few times. He went to visit his mom and there was only 1 he could remember and played for her so I figured go with that. It’s “Love Is a Gift” by Olivia Newton-John. The runner up “You Had Me From Hello” Kenny Chesney will be played during the sand ceremony.

We don’t have an “us” song either lol.  My Fiance (and me too) really loves metal…. so basically nothing that he likes is in any way appropriate for our wedding reception.  That leaves the music decisions completely up to me.  Luckily I have a very broad range of tastes, so I think I will definitely enjoy the music and he will probably like it ok.

But yeah… there’s definitely never been a song that stands out to us that we both love that would actually be appropriate for a first dance.  But I had no trouble choosing at all, because I have always known the song I wanted to choose.  You’re the Inspiration by Chicago.  I love 80’s music, and this is a beautiful, passionate, romantic song to me that says all the right things.  I don’t know if it sounds too cheesy 80’s to some, but I like that it is a “big” song and not just slow and boring like so many of the choices could have been.  The first time I ever heard this song I was in high school, and I pretty much knew then that it was the song I wanted as my first dance.  It says all the things I ever wanted to feel about someone, and I feel that way about my Fiance.  So it is perfect for us.  But of course he’s like “whatever.”  I told him the song and played it for him and then he forgot what it was lol… but oh well.  He does like the song when he remembers what it is!  It will be special to us after the wedding, doesn’t have to be before.

We have two songs that wouldn’t really be good as a first dance song. The first one is “Tainted Love” by Marilyn Manson because that was what got us talking to each other in the first place. The second is “Light on in the Hallway” by Longway, the guitarist is a friend of mine and that song was playing when my husband kissed me for the first time. Somebody titled it “Space” on Youtube for whatever reason….

We ended up just going with a song by Dashboard Confessionals for our first dance.

“When God Made You” – Newsong

(It’s a Christian song)

My mom found it, actually. I have no idea how she found it. I’m a fan of Newsong, but this song isn’t played on the inspirational radio station that I sometimes listen to. It perfectly describes my Fiance and I.

Fiance and I are both metal heads, but we have agreed that we probably won’t find a good metal song that is an appopriate first dance song.  We decided on ‘I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You’ by Elvis for our first dance.  However, we’re hoping between now and then to find a rock cover of the song πŸ˜‰

@eocenia:  Our song is “Halo” by Beyonce.  We are both each other’s second marriages and it was a tough road for the first 3 years of our relationship getting each other to let our guards down even though we were very much in love.

Our song is “Times Like These”, by the Foo Fighters – the acoustic version

This song was playing a lot when we first started talking and just described our lives so perfectly when we found each other.

“Then” by Brad Paisley. We both love country, and every word in the song is true to our relationship πŸ™‚

I am having trouble now thinking about it.  Wedding is in 71 days… We also have a song but I don’t think dancing to Pitbull’s “Give me everything tonight” will be very appropriate… even though that song is the theme of my vacation when I met him in Miami lol. To make matters worse most of my guests are Latinos and as a Latina, my favorite music is Latin music… I am debating whether I want a ballad or a bachata song…

The ballada would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXZ1OoWO1os

The bachata would be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROzZSmaxDz8

Bachata is more upbeat but I’m not sure if I can do it in a ballgown but then again I don’t want to sway back and forth the whole time….

I wish I could just shake it to “Excuse me but I may drink a little bit more than I should tonight… ” πŸ˜‰

Still deciding between Billy Joel’s “Just the way you are,” “Can’t take my eyes off of you” the original version or “Faithfully” by Journey. We have so many songs that we love one doesn’t really stick out as “the one.” Good luck!
