Ours was June 21st, 2015. We picked it becasue it was Summer Solstice and it was a Sunday which saved us on our venue.

blossom78:  We aren’t engaged yet but our plan is to pick our “unofficial” anniversary because that really truly was our first date and we want to actually get to celebrate it. ๐Ÿ™‚

We are getting married Memorial Day weekend. We knew we wanted a holiday weekend for the wedding so we could always have a long weekend for our anniversary. FIs brother got married July 4th, my brother and FIs sister both got married labor day weekend, so Memorial day was open!

blossom78:  Well, we wanted September but that was booked so without waiting an entire year, we decided to go with August. 22 is FI’s favorite number so we just went with August 22.

We wanted to get married right before Halloween so we could have a haunted honeymoon. ๐Ÿ˜€ I also always wanted a fall wedding. So we picked the last Saturday in October – the 24th.

  • Wedding: September 2013

Ours was 9-21-2013

The venue we wanted was completely booked up until that December, and I really didn’t want a winter wedding.  The day before we went to view the venue, this date was reserved by someone and they had 3 business days to pay the deposit to hold it.  When the lady called and said they never sent in payment, we left work immediately and paid the deposit.  The date didn’t matter to us, we were only trying to get a date for Fall 2013.

We just picked our date! We looked at a lot of venues and found one we fell in love with… Every Saturday for 2016 was already booked! So we just booked for June 24, 2017. It’s a long way away, but we are so excited! We knew we wanted our ceremony outside and I’ve always loved June weddings, so hoping the weather will be good then ๐Ÿ™‚ and can’t wait to start planning now!

blossom78:  our wedding date was Sept 14. It was easy to choose bc I always wanted a September wedding bc thats the month we started dating and it was conincidencd that the 14th fell on a Saturday, it was 10 years exactly from our first date. I still have our ticket stub from when we went to the movies

10.17.14

We got engaged in February 2014, and I started to call vendors in March. I looked at their availabilities in the Fall 2014 or in Spring 2015. Spring was actually much harder to pick a date, and I had always wanted a Fall wedding. The 17th is pretty late in the Fall for the leaves, but I thought we’d take a chance.

The date was more due to our reception venue having availability and us preferring a Friday wedding. I would have actually preferred September, but the one Saturday (the 28th) that worked with the venue we wanted – one of DH’s coworkers was getting married that day. So, to not have the same anniversary as them and so he could attend (has known for years), we picked the next available from dates we thought would work.

  • Wedding: November 2015

At first, we wanted an October wedding. Fall weddings are just beautiful in my area, and well every area in my option. After researching venues, if we wanted three weeks after our original date, it would be $3000 cheaper! Insane as it sounds. So instead, we are going with  November 6th of this year. Friday weddings has a minimum of $5000, while Saturdays are $7500. Friday was the easier choice. Sucks that we will run into daylight savings time, but willing to deal with that for the cost.

Works out well too, since my birthday is the 16th, he cannot forget the days ๐Ÿ™‚

Not too hot, not too cold and it was after our cities film festival which makes everything a bit bonkers in the area we were getting married in.

Also, our venue was available.. So that was a big factor in our decision.

September 10, 2016 here as well!

We got engaged over Memorial Day weekend and didn’t want a mid-summer wedding and also knew we wanted to wait about a year in order to save up enough money so… 16 months to September it was! Being in the midwest, September usually isn’t too hot (fingers crossed) and will hopefully be nicer, with less of a chance of snow than later fall (and I didn’t want to share an October anniversary with my birthday!)

Only 425 days to go…

blossom78:  Oct 24. We knew we wanted to get married this October at a particular venue. By the time we settled on it and called in February the only open dates with a decent ceremony time were Oct 10 or 24. My nephew’s birthday is the 10th and we didn’t want to be trying to plan anniversary trips around his birthday for the rest of our lives so the 24th was it!
