Fiance and I have chosen the most perfect venue to have our wedding & reception at… only problem is … WHEN? First off I should say we live in Georgia. This particular venue is a restored farm. The ceremony would be held outside in front of horses in the pasture, the reception will be located in the restored Horse Stable barn. It’s absolutely gorgeous but due to it being a popular wedding spot, the dates are limited for this year. We had hoped to have the wedding this year, but the only dates available are September 15 and December 1, ugh. Worried September will be blistering HOT and December will be too cold :-/.. Should we just settle for a Spring wedding in 2013 and wait longer than we had hoped??
Check out the venue if you have a minute.
Any advice would be apppreciated!

December shouldn’t be too bad and as long as you warn people it will be an outside wedding, they should come prepared. September in the south scares me because we aren’t exactly known for our cools temps! If you can manage waiting, 2013 might be a better option or, and I know I will look crazy for saying this, keep looking at other venues and you may find one you love as much as if not more that has the dates available. If nothing else, it certainly can’t hurt!

September can be very warm in the South! I would suggest not using the Sept date, unless you are getting married in the shade or you can supply everyone with personal fans. The December date could work, but it could be too cold. It’s hard to predict weather that far in advance. It seem to go from hot to cold without much in between here in the South.

You’ll have to seriously prioritize. What’s most important to you? Getting married at that venue or getting married this year. Is finding another venue and getting married this year at a time when it isn’t too hot nor too cold not an option?

I say go for it!. If you love that venue so will your guest. I mean there are plenty of other Brides that get married in the Summer and they some how manage. Case and point, your venue doesn’t have any summer date open so someone somewhere is doing it.
You can make your progams in the shape of a fan and pass them to all your guest, decorate tin/metal basins and use them as coolers to hold water bottle for your guest (just be sure to have them available before/during and after your time outside,) and maybe even considered adding an open tent rental (no sides) to block the sun.
It’s doable and has been done before. September isn’t that bad and it’s not like your date is in the middle of July AND your guest will only have to be outside for a short period of time during the ceremony. Plus if you do choose the 15th you can join me and a great group of Bees and be a September 2012 Bride. :o)

Thanks everyone for all of your input! I really appreciate it. I just joined WeddingBee and am so happy I did 🙂 … We’re still thinking of what’s more important to us. We do have other venues we’ve checked out, just didnt WOW us over like this one did. You know the feeling ;)..
Dec 1 I think is looking more doable. One thing I forgot to mention, is the Reception Area in the Restored Horse Stable area, can be heated (offered with Heaters), but cannot be cooled… also, there’s an awesome outdoor fire pit area that’s really homey looking. It’d be nice to utilize that!
So now I ask, Colors for a December wedding? lol..
I had chosen this sort of Color Palette.
A light aqua, neutral cream colors, and maybe even a pop of eggplant (purple!)
