I just labored over mine for EIGHT FREAKING HOURS (aaaaah!). Our wedding is October 20th, 2012. Our RSVP date is Sept. 29th.
Our wedding coordinator wanted them sent out this week at the latest. I mentioned to my boss (who’s also kind of a super involved/opinionated friend, lol) that they would be going out this week and she was shocked and said that the should only go out 6-8 weeks before the wedding…
anyone have any insight? I’m more than likely going to send them out this week because I honestly don’t want to have to think about it but just wondering how the hive felt about this. I believe my wedding planner advised us to send them out roughly 3 months in advance so we can make sure we get them all back on time (or at least a large chunk back on time so we have to call and hassle fewer people at the last minute to get their menu choices).
What do you think?

I think you should send them out in mid August. 8 weeks is really the most appropriate, and even mid-August is earlier than that.

We are wedding AND rsvp date twins 🙂 lol I haven’t decided precisely when I’m going to send mine, but I was thinking mid to late August?

The norm is 6 to 12 weeks (so in your case, July 28th thru to September 8th).
A lot depends on…
How far the furtherst Invite has to go, and the RSVP has to come back from
WHEN your Caterer / Venue Demands numbers by
And, IF you are planning to incorporate a B-List of possible Guests into your numbers. B-List Guests have to receive their Invites with enough time to reply to the printed RSVP date.
Hope this helps,

I must have misunderstood my wedding coordinator because now (I emailed her) she is saying August 20th – – – that seems late to me though?!

Rule of thumb is 6 to 8 weeks. Mine were supposed to be getting sent out next week but they haven’t even finished the freaking proofs yet. >:/ Provided they get sent out on time the guests would have about 6 weeks to rsvp.
