We have just finished compiling all out guest addresses! I have this great and awful feeling the rest of summer and fall will fly by and then Christmas will be here. Ugh!
I am thinking of sending our Save the Dates in early to mid September as I want people (lots of Out of Town guests) to plan in advance. When are you sending yours out?

@springbride23: We are sending them out in September too. 9 months IMO is a nice time frame for Out of Town guests. 6 months is way too little time to book airfare, hotel, set up a rental car etc. for most people.

we sent ours around the 1yr mark, I was too impatient (I’d had the pieces – a magnet and & postcard combo) for ages beforehand!

We planned to send them in July but aren’t getting our engagement pics taken until this week, then a few weeks to get them back so we’re planning to send our Save-The-Date Cards in Septemeber if all goes as plan

@mcgoo: +1 about being impatient… lol
We just sent ours at the 11 month mark, we have a lot of Out of Town guests and wanted to give them as much notice as we could.

I was originally planning on December, but maybe I need to rethink that!

Sending them in September, although I’ve already sent 2 out (one to my aunt and uncle who always plan awesome vacations way in advance and the other to my brother who lives in Germany).

We are sending them out late Aug/early Sept. I am worried about summer vacations so I wanted ample warning 🙂

I was thinking I’d send mine in January, right after the holidays…too late? we don’t have many out-of-towners.

Yes 9 months before the wedding is a good time frame for guests to plan. It is great.

We’ll probably send ours out in October. We’re moving over Labor Day weekend (from MO to NJ) and the idea of dealing with all of that is just not fun. Plus we don’t even know our new address yet!
I just counted it up the other day for our hotel blocks, and out of our 165 person guest list, there are 70 people from out of town (not including Fiance and myself). I was shocked we had that many. Plus, most of our Out of Town guests live where they have to travel to a major city for an airport, so that requires a lot more planning.
So once we move, we’ll start collecting addresses, and then send out the Save-The-Date Cards in October. My mom said to wait until November, but I also want to send out Christmas cards and I don’t want there to be a mail overload on people!

We sent ours out on August 1. Partly impatience (they just looked so pretty!) and partly because we have a ton of people coming from all over. Out of town, out of state, out of country. We wanted everyone to have a lot of time to figure out travel plans. We also got a Save The Date from a friend who’s not getting married until September 2014, in July so I think the rules for the Save the Dates are more of a guideline.

I think save the dates can also double as engagement announcements, I received my friends and hers isn’t until October 2014! But I love them and think they are cute and it’s a magnet so it’s on my fridge 😀

@springbride23: We are sending ours out in October. I read somewhere that 8 months is a good time to shoot for. It’s not so early that people misplace or accidentally throw away your STD, but it’s not too late for them to plan ahead.

September. We’re sending them to family and our closest friends. All of our family is out of town so I want them to have enough time to plan. I just ordered them today actually (postcards from minted.com). I have the rest of the month to finish gathering and organizing addresses and then get them all addressed next month. Goal is to have them in the mail by the end of the month, though I think it’ll be sooner than that. They’re so cute I can’t wait to send them!
