Wow I was thinking closer to December for our Memorial Day weekend wedding.  Now I’m wondering if that’s too late!

I’m a March bride, not a May one, but we’ll be ordering ours this week/next week and sending them out mid-May/late-May. So about 9 or 10 months out. A year ahead is the max I would go.

I’m waiting for our engagement photos to be done, which will be in June. It’ll take the photographer a month or two to get them back to us, then I’m designing the Save the Dates online and having them sent to my house.

I will probably send ours out in August or September. I don’t want to send too early because people may forget. I think a year is the max I would go too, and that’s if you have a destination wedding. For local weddings, I think honestly 6 months is plenty of time!

I was a July bride, but I sent ours out in our Christmas cards, so about 7.5 months in advance.

I’m May 19 and thinking Save-The-Date Cards will go out in January.  We’re not having a Destination Wedding and very few people will be traveling.  I didn’t want to send them out during holiday and figured January would be a good time to catch most people… any thoughts/feedback on that?  Is it too LATE to send out STDs?

@baletrina: I’m sending mine out in December, as Christmas cards. Double duty stationary!

Another Memorial Day bride here!  I’d love to send them out with our Christmas Cards at the beginning of Dec (so almost 6 months), but am now thinking about sending them 9 months in advance. I’m just worried about people planning their vacations/needing to book flights.  But then, a lot of our guests already know the date via word of mouth.  Decisions, Decisions…

Just for reference, about 30% of our guest list are Out of Town, none are out of the country.

Yeah maybe around October is a better time for sending them out for Memorial Day. I can’t bring myself to do them much earlier than that.  In another related question  . . . are any Memorial Day brides actually putting on the STD that it’s Memorial Day, or are you assuming that people are going to be able to figure that out?  I mean I’d like to think my guests are fairly intelligent, but you never know.

@baletrina: Yeah I’m thinking that might be the way to go.  If I saw the date I’m not sure I would automatically know that it was Memorial Day.  Also it’s probably a easy way for people to remember!

Im May 5, 2012 so I was thinking of having our engagement photos done in June and possibly sending out the Save-The-Date Cards by July maybe August depending on how long they take to come back from the photographer
