So my Honey and I are trying to fit everything into a budget and cake was one of the things that unfortuantly didn’t have a spot. So even thought I am a food network challange junkie and oogle over all the beautiful and you know $12,000+ cakes we were setteling on having his mom make our cake… after all she used to work in a bakery and makes them for her family events all the time… (my heart was cake broken, but we could afford the $20 a person catering menu I also had my heart set on.)
So I was lementing today the idea that I was going to have a “good enough cake” with one of my bridesmaids, when all the sudden she tells me… one of her friends from back home is a baker who does AMAZING work, and she can make a deal with this friend to have our cake made for cost, and she would like to pay the whole thing as a wedding present to us.
So now not only am I going to have the cake of my dreams without sacrificing anything else from our budget, we are also going to set up a secret grooms cake of my FI’s car, which would be an awesome gift for me to suprise my honey with.
seriously I sat at my computer at work and tried not to let the tears fall. I am so blessed to have friends who care about me, and to have little things like this just taken care of. I thank God for roviding me not only me needs but also my wants soemtimes.
thanks bees for reading. I know this is a lame post with no drama, no pictures no polls or fancy dresses, but to me this is a reminder that I don’t always have to be in controll and sometimes when you agree to compromise you are suprised with the little things that make you happy.

That’s so wonderful!!! These are my favorite kinds of posts. We had something similar happen. We found out that our friend is a notary, and he offered to notarize our documents for us. Something so silly, but I was so excited because that was an extra $20 per document here and there that I did NOT have to worry about!!!! And then his family offered to check to see if we could use their timeshare for our “weddingmoon” rather than pay for a hotel, which opened up room in the budget for a cocktail hour….those little acts of kindness just knock my socks off at every turn!!! It reminds you what’s really important. Celebrating with friends and family, and all the L-O-V-E!!!! 🙂

That is so awesome! My mother was going to make our cake, but now we’re estranged. My FBIL’s gf has offered to make our cake but I still havent decided because she’s always so busy with her work and life that I worry she will forget or not be able to get it done in time.

That is so awesome! I love when stuff works out like that! I’ve had a few instances like that during my wedding planning and honestly it probably makes up for all of the stuff that has not gone as smoothly! Now you can have your cake and eat it too! hahaha (cheesy, I know. lol!)

That’s great news!! And sometimes, the expensive cakes aren’t even that good! Now you can sit back and know that a friend is involved and isn’t going to let you be disappointed! Our cake was included in our package “per head’ price at our venue, and was one of the best cakes I’ve ever tasted… yet a friend’s wedding that we went to the month before ours – they went with the most expensive cupcakes I’ve ever heard of because they were supposed to be “the best bakery ever” and the cupcakes were dry and lacked flavor. You dont need to spend a lot to get something amazing!
