As our RSVP date approached and we were still missing quite a few responses, I started calling/emailing/texting people under the guise that I hadn’t heard back from them and wanted to make sure they received their invite (we actually did have 3 invites reported as never received, so I was worried there were more out there as well as wanting to prod people to remember to rsvp on time). If they replied that they did receive the invite, I reminded them that we needed to have their dinner choices to provide to our caterer if they planned to attend. I worded it so that it was understood that if they did not reply with a dinner choice, there would be no dinner for them to eat if they did show up. Anyone who didn’t reply at all, I just assumed was not planning to attend. We did not have anyone show up who didn’t reply and only had 3 no-shows (2 were an emergency that we knew about a day ahead of time and 1 was a date who we knew was unrealiable).
