I got my dress within a month of getting engaged (11 months before the wedding). I knew exactly what I wanted: vintage. And I knew that once I found it, no matter when, I’d have to get it, because there’s no finding it later! When I found it, I knew it was “the one,” so I pounced. Plus, I now I have plenty of time to get it altered.

I got mine about a month after I got engaged (and about 11 months before the wedding date). I went looking because I had everyone in town, and I was scared that I’d have to look forever since I wasn’t sure I’d find something that I LOVED. Joke’s on me, I found it that first day and bought it right there. It’s been hanging in my closet for months 🙂

10 months before the wedding, so ample time for arrival of the dress (I waited 6 months) plus extensive alterations (adding sleeves).

I bought my reception dress yesterday — the wedding isn’t til August 2014!  It was a total impulse buy, but it’s nice to have one less thing to worry about.  The ceremony dress I am going to have custom-made 6 months before the wedding.

I got mine VERY early, but then I was actually looking for it, it just sort of found me, LOL. And I had to get it there and then!

My ceremony is March 2, and I just bought mine yesterday. 🙂 Gotta wait for November before it arrives though!

They say on average it takes 6-9 months for a dress to come in, so it’s probably better to pick it out sooner rather than later to avoid a rush charge.

Im Getting married in October 13….. there was a Trunk show Jan of this year… I fig if I found one i liked id get it if not waite a few more months. I found a dress I loved, so I ordered it. The dress will be kept at the store whn it come in, and wont be done till december, so wont be too bad. I needed a size 10 dress, but the Maker says to order a size up if its a zipper, but its not, but i just went with the suggestion and i will have it fitted to me closer to the day.

i just bought my dress yesterday (2 months after getting engaged) and I am 16 months out. The girl at the shop said it would be about 4 months before it comes in, which will give me a year to drool over it before I actually get to wear it. I found this dress on my very first dress appointment, then went to about 5 more stores and tried on about 40 more dresses (including “the one” two more times) before throwing in the towel. I was so excited to try on my dress the final time, the salesgirl ‘cut me off’ because she could obviously tell this was the one. I’m super excited about it.
