I bought mine about 14 months before the wedding, but there were a couple of reasons:

    1. We had a longer engagement so I started shopping much earlier
    2. My dress was *supposed* to take 10-12 months to come in, so I thought I’d better order early.

It ended up taking only five months to get here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think typical dress shopping time is anywhere between 9-12 months, but obviously it depends on how long your engagement is. ๐Ÿ™‚

I ordered my dress in November, 10 months prior to our September wedding, and my dress came in around April!

    Happy dress shopping!

I bought my dress 3-5 months for our wedding.  We got engaged in March and decided that we wanted a wedding in September.

I bought mine a year before the wedding.  One big reason was that the bridal store was offering a little bit of a discount if I ordered it by the end of the month.  If they weren’t I might have sat on the dissission a little longer.

I bought my first one about a year before the wedding.  I had major dress regret and bought the second one with less than 5 months til the wedding.

We had a 4 month engagement so I got my dress about 3 1/2 months before the wedding. I ordered from Casablanca and paid a rush fee, I believe. The dress came in about 6 weeks before the wedding with plenty of time for alterations.

I bought mine about a year out. One, because we are moving to CA from DC at some point, and the wedding is in CA. I wanted one less thing to worry about! Two, the dress I fell in love with was on sale, and I couldn’t pass it up.

I started shopping about 9 months out, then I broke my elbow and it took forever to heal enough to try dresses on again, so I ended up ordering mine just shy of 5 months out.  It came in completely in time with no rush fees (it actually arrived a couple of weeks before my first fitting).

Just under a year before. I chose it on the 2nd week of July and we get married June 28th 2013. The dress takes 6 months to come in… and I want to prepare for delays, just in case! My friend’s dress took 9 months to come in! Whaa?

I ordered my dress 11 months before the wedding. I had a long engagement, so I had already been looking around and trying on dresses for a year before I finally committed to one.
