Hello lovely bees!
My wedding is 3 months away. (Eek! When did that happen?!) The rehearsal dinner will be a pretty formal affair at the New England Aquarium, with a fancy catered meal, possibly live musicians, and an awesome venue – i.e. sting ray touch tanks. (It’s where my parents almost got married, so it’s homage to them.)
I was only vaguely looking at rehearsal dinner dresses, but I think I fell in love with one. Is it too soon to buy them?
I would love opinions! FYI I’m size 10/12, C/D bosom, and either apple or hourglass – depending if I have spanx on! I was hoping to shed a little weight, though truthfully probably not enough to merit a different size.
#1 pisarro nights – the one I fell in love with (on sale!) – paired with cobalt shrug/blazer and shoes (for aquarium theme)
#2 adrianna papell – paired with navy shrug/blazer and shoes (for aquarium theme)
#3 adrianna papell (colors would be nice with aquarium, love the pattern, sleeve length is weird though)
#4 modcloth (LOVE this, but maybe not “modern” enough for venue)
#5 asos (also love this, but maybe not modern enough)
Thanks everyone!! 🙂

Oops, forgot to ask the main question!!

Is three months away too early to buy the rehearsal dinner dress/outfit?!
Great choices!!! I would vote 1, 3, or 5! Never too early. If you like something now, get it! Might not be there three months from now. I got mine about 5 months in advance myself (before my actual wedding dress haha!)

BohemianButterfly: Haha okay! Thanks for enabling me 🙂 I am worried a little bit about sizing, but I think #1 in particular would look great a little loose!
I am sorry I meant #1, #2, and #5** are my favorites!! All great though, good luck!

I’ve been getting really conflicting advice!! Is the dress supposed to be white or not?!
I was open to other colors but ended up getting a white Adrianna Papell dress with silver sequins. I’m pretty picky… so I’ve been looking for months for something beautiful, appropriate, and a reasonable cost. Found the Adrianna Papell on sale at 6pm.com 2 months before my wedding. If you love something I would suggest snapping it up

I purchased mine already, although I am actively trying to lose a few lbs. My dress is probably too formal for the restaurant we chose, but I saw it online and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was a bit pricey too, so im feeling a bit guilty about that. But god, its gorgeous!

I went to one of my favorite thrift stores 6 days before the wedding and found a dress I loved, it happened to be white with silver details. Wearing white or not is totally a personally choice, just find a dress (or other type of outfit) you love! If you love the idea of wearing white for your rehearsal dinner, do it, if you don’t, don’t worry about it. Honestly what I really wanted was sparkles, and I would have been sad if that didn’t happen, but I’m lucky I found something perfect. It doesn’t matter when you get your dress, just don’t pass up on the perfect one.
Personally I love the 1st and the 5th, and I think with the right accessories almost any dress can fit perfectly well with your venue.

adoreprep I LOVE 6pm.com!! It really is the best website, especially for shoes.
msfreemis I’m also trying to lose a few. I’m hoping the revealing silhouettes of my dresses will really encourage me to eat well! I’ve been working out consistently, so at least there’s that! Don’t feel guilty… How many times are you going to get married?! 🙂 You’ll remember the rehearsal dinner night almost as much as the wedding night!!
ladyamalthea 6 days and a perfect dress! Wow, that’s awesome!!
I really didn’t know about colors, I just didn’t want to defy some conventions I didn’t know about. I was also DEFINITELY going for sparkles. I can’t tell you how many times I searched Polyvore.com for variations of “beaded dress” or “sequin dress” or “sparkly dress”!
Soooo…. I bought a dress. I placed a bid that I thought would have been too low on ebay, but they accepted it. Yay, saving money! We’ll see if it fits well.
I thought it was a nice combination of modern and elegant + white and non-white. And it’s certainly sparkly!! The whole thing is embellished!
What do you think? My other backups would be #1 or #3, but 1’s sale ends tomorrow and I’m nervous about 3’s fit (but truthfully I think that would have been by far the coolest, especially at the aquarium… too bad I don’t have a model’s body!)

that pisarro nights gown is gorgeous! Where is it on sale at?
I already found a possible rehearsal dress and it’s 11 mos away… but it was on clerance for $25 and i loved it.. We have to have rehearsal in the morning so i needed something more casual, so I went ahead and bought it now bc I loved it and it was so cheap.
If i find something different in the mean time, fine. lol
Also, I recently bought an adrianna papell dress on clearance for under $100 and got it yesterday. It is GORGEOUS in person and the beading is amazing. I was surprised at how heavy the package was, but once I got the dress on it didnt seem as heavy. just gorgeous. Now I need to find a reason to wear it!

shlobin: I have a very large collection of dresses, so wore a dress I already had. It was a sheer black lace dress with a champagne underlay that I paired with nude pumps.
I chose the navy blue dress, I think its stunning!!!! I don’t see anything wrong with the length at all

“Modern” would be number 2. The others are a little dated even if in only one area of: pattern, material or style.
In spite of it being Retro I like number 4 most because it says BRIDE !

Hopefully only 2. This is my second marriage…
However, I didn’t do alll this stuff the first time so maybe that’s why my first marriage didn’t last? (Just kidding, I take full responsibility for my poor life choices in my younger years)
Anywho, I forgot to vote last time – I Love dress #3!

To go with you venue I voted for #3, it’s gorgeous! My sister tried on dress #2 when she was pregnant, she’s normally a size 10, and it was very flattering on her (it was the long version though but that souldn’t make a difference). But I can’t see a blazer or shrug working with the first two dresses…the bead work is so amazing and well executed that wearing anything over it will take away from the dress and in my opinion not look right. Number 4 and 5 are pretty but they seem better fits for a bridal shower to me…not fancy enough for the rehearsal dinner you are describing.
