SO bought it along with the engagement ring.

SO bought it alone after we got engaged.

SO and I bought it together after getting engaged.

My e-ring is being custom made and the band will be made to match. We will be ordering the band a couple months before our wedding.

I guess you could say my e-ring was “custom made” in that DH bought the diamond from Blue Nile, but had it set at a local jeweler with a plain white gold band. It’s a pretty standard solitaire so that’s why I hesitate to say “custom made” because I think elaborate when I hear that.

That being said, he did not buy the e-ring as part of a set, so we looked at few jewelers before settling on my band. We ended up going with a band from the jeweler he had the diamond set at, even though it was not a “matching” set, it was the best option for sitting flush with my e-ring. I pretty much picked it out, DH was mostly there to keep me in budget, which I’m sure he had an idea mentally, but it was never discussed. If I had gone over I’m sure he would have pointed it out, but I tried to keep it to what I thought was reasonable.

My guess is that your Fiance either doesn’t know he needed to buy a band, or he bought the e-ring as part of a set already and just didn’t tell you. Hopefully you two can figure it out! If he hasn’t bought one already you should have a say.

I’m the 4th option. I purchased my band, on my own, without any input from my DH. I had been looking at bands, but one day I was at Costco, I found the perfect band. My ring was custom made, so I knew I would have a mismatched set. I love my set!!

I also purchased and designed my wedding band myself through Brian Gavin.

We picked out our wedding rings after we got engaged, but we did look at some e-ring / wedding band matched sets when we were looking for my engagement ring! I originally wanted him to choose my e-ring – I sent him a bunch of pics of the style I like – but he was too nervous to actually make the purchase without my approval. I think if he had gone ahead and bought the e-ring by himself, he would have bought one of the matched sets because they were a better deal at our local jeweler.

Mine wasn’t in the poll: I picked out my own e-ring and wedding band as a set.

I also chose my wedding band, on my own, looked and shopped by myself. I actually ended up ordering it from Blue Nile 🙂

I just ordered my ring last week even though our wedding isn’t until August.

I accidentally voted incorrectly for the 2nd option – oops!

We went band shopping together after we got engaged. He paid for mine and I paid for his, but we both chose what we wanted. We’ve paid over the odds to get them from the same store my e-ring came from because we just liked the idea of them matching. They also have amazing after sales service and will clean them 6 monthly for free and give them an annual polish on demand also for free.  If he’d wanting non-matching for his I would have been fine with it.

My Fiance and I looked together at a couple local jewelry stores but everything seems too big or too “busy”. I was actually looking for something quite basic and found exactly what I was looking for at BlueNile.com It’s just a platinum band with 12 small diamonds going across. We paid about $1200 I believe. I’m dying to wear it!

tiffyyippie:  Both my rings were custom made, and as they were both designed after we got engaged, I had a lot of input on them. We ended up ordering our rings 4-6 weeks before our wedding.
