@Barbiestylez:  We got engaged July 17th, 2013 and we are getting married October 25th, 2014 ๐Ÿ™‚ Just for reference.

1.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR VENUE/COST? We booked the end of August…so about 13.5ish months out. Down payment of $500 but no booking fee for a party of over 150 guests. We easily had this amount from just my side of the guest list! We can do the ceremony outside if it is nice and we want to, otherwise we will do the ceremony in the reception area.

2.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER/COST? I had already inquired a few before we got engaged and somewhat picked one. Fiance and I discussed it and decided on a family friend who does it. We were quoted (before we got engaged) for about $150 but she had done some more weddings and upgraded her camera and editing tools so after we got engaged she changed it to $300 which is still amazing! This is for engagement pictures and a digital copy…as well as grooms dinner (if I want), all day on the wedding day if I want and digital copies of the pictures.

3.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR DJ/COST? Still need to book this – I’m thinking somewhere in the $600-$800ish range.

4.WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR CATERER/COST? Catering is included in the venue….it will be about $16 for a two meat buffet.

5.WHEN DID YOU PURCHASE OR CHOOSE YOUR DRESS/COST? I purchased my dress November 3rd….so a little over a year in advance….and I’m going to have alterations done by someone else. It costed about $480 with a garment bag.

6.WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR BRIDESMAIDS BUY THEIR DRESSES? I would like them to buy the dresses by April. My two sisters are ordering theirs on Tuesday 1/21 though. Those will cost about $130

7. WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR Fiance AND GROOMSMEN GET FITTED? Fiance was fitted the beginning of December…his dad will be getting fitted soon and I’m unsure when the other guys will be. I would like them to at least during or before June.

8.WHEN DID YOU PRINT YOUR INVITATIONS/COST? My save the date’s were $25 without stamps….my invitations are not printed yet but I have the invites/envelopes and rsvps/envelopes and got them off Hobby Lobby 100/$25 on sale. I bought ink for about $25 on sale from an online place because I’m printing my own.

9.WHEN DID YOU PURCHASE OR MAKE YOUR CENTERPIECES/COST? I will be making them….mirrors, jars/vases, and fake tealights from $ store…ribbon from Hobby Lobby…ad will be getting purple flower petals from Oriental Trading. They will be about $4/centerpiece. I have to finish buying a couple things and then put them together.

10.WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR MAKEUP/HAIR TRIAL/COST? One of my really good friends went to cosmotology school. She is my personal attendant and will also be doing my hair for the wedding. Haven’t had anything for this yet.

11.WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR FLORIST/COST? I will be my florist lol. I want flowers I can keep forever so I’m doing silk flowers and putting them together – wayyyyyyyyyyy cheaper. Using afloral.com and Joann for the flowers ๐Ÿ™‚ Unsure of cost yet.

1.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR VENUE/COST? We chose the venues about 18 months ahead, booked 12 months ahead. Ceremony location is $75, reception hall is $375 for 3 days.

2.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER/COST? Haven’t booked one yet, but we’re trying to keep it around or under $1200.

3.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR DJ/COST? Also haven’t booked, trying to keep under $600.

4.WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR CATERER/COST? We are using a a local joint, costing us around $900 for 80 or so guets.

5.WHEN DID YOU PURCHASE OR CHOOSE YOUR DRESS/COST? Chose the dress 14 months out, total cost before alterations was $599.

6.WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR BRIDESMAIDS BUY THEIR DRESSES? Haven’t yet, hoping to keep them under $150 each.

7. WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR Fiance AND GROOMSMEN GET FITTED? Haven’t yet.

8.WHEN DID YOU PRINT YOUR INVITATIONS/COST? I am DIYing, they are costing around $100 for roughly 80 invites.

9.WHEN DID YOU PURCHASE OR MAKE YOUR CENTERPIECES/COST? I am doing banquet tables lined with TONS of candles, cost is around $40 per table.

10.WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR MAKEUP/HAIR TRIAL/COST? Haven’t booked yet, would like to keep it under $150 per person.

11.WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR FLORIST/COST? Getting flowers from sams club, full bouquet package + centerpiece flowers will be around $500.

1.VENUE/COST? Sept. 2013 for our October 2014 wedding.  Reception venue was FREE with catering, the ceremony space was $300

2.PHOTOGRAPHER/COST? Sept. 2013, $1800 for 7 hours, two photographers

3.DJ/COST? Family member, we are paying her $500

4.CATERER/COST? Sept. 2013, $6000 for 100 people, beer and wine included

5.DRESS/COST? This month!  Hopefully under $1200

6.BRIDESMAIDS BUY THEIR DRESSES? Pick their own, just show up with something in October, ladies

8.INVITATIONS/COST? $85 for my DIY invitations, printed at home.  Working on them now

10.MAKEUP/HAIR TRIAL/COST? It will be $110 for hair and makeup on the day

11.FLORIST/COST? My mom is a florist and gifting us our flowers!

For reference I was engaged the day before thanksgiving and am getting married Oct. 11th 2014


1.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR VENUE/COST? we booked in January. we were originally trying to book for May 2015 but it was important for my Fiances mother that we got married in 2014 due to health problems so we decided to plan our wedding in 9 months. we have an estimate of 100 people. The venue and catering is 15k and the ceremony fee is 600. She gave us the Sunday pricing even though we are getting married on A Saturday since we booked later in the season And they wanted to secure the date.

2.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER/COST? 9 months out. It was the second vendor we booked after the venue. Her services are 3,560 but include engagement session and an album plus all rights to the pictures. I’m really excited about her, I was very picky when it came to choosing a photographer.

3.WHEN DID YOU BOOK YOUR DJ/COST? also in January at 9 months out. It’s a friend who has a legit dj business but he gave me a discount so it cost us 1k

4.WHEN DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR CATERER/COST? Catering is through the venue. We will do a tasting in the next two months but Fiance wants filet mignon and a roasted chicken as plated meal options. It’s about 130 a plate.

5.WHEN DID YOU PURCHASE OR CHOOSE YOUR DRESS/COST?  january 27th. I went to a bridal outfit because I know I have designer tastes but didn’t want to go over 3k. I found a Jim Hjelm gown originally 6400 and I purchased it for 2800 so I got a great deal. I haven’t done any alterations yet.

6.WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR BRIDESMAIDS BUY THEIR DRESSES? I purchased Sue Wong dresses from Ideeli.com were originally 580 but they were 230 a piece. I also bought dresses from an overseas designer. I will go this weekend and have them try them all on and then return what they don’t wear but I believe it will be the Sue Wong dresses because they are so beautiful.

7. WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR Fiance AND GROOMSMEN GET FITTED? this has yet to happen. Maybe next month? I’m not even sure Fiance asked his groomsmen yet. Guys, sigh.

8.WHEN DID YOU PRINT YOUR INVITATIONS/COST? i just ordered some save the date samples. we have our engagement shoot march 9th so I will send them out as soon as the pictures come back and they ship to me. I bought a gilt.com deal 100 for 200 on wedding divas.com so ill use that for saves the dates.

9.WHEN DID YOU PURCHASE OR MAKE YOUR CENTERPIECES/COST? one of my bridesmaids mother is a florist so I will be getting my center pieces at wholesale cost. I haven’t met with her yet, I will wait until next month. I don’t have a set budget for florals but am hoping to stay under 1500. The venue provides candles and I have been collecting vintage books to stack on tables and put flowers and a candle On. I’ve also been collecting vintage trays for accent tables. I haven’t been paying attention to cost of those things, whoops. I bought frames for table numbers in clearance for 1.60 each at Target. I bought 15 of them since I don’t know how many table we will have yet. My mom has a beautiful collection of vintage vases and shes graciously lending me them for cocktail tables.

10.WHEN DID YOU HAVE YOUR MAKEUP/HAIR TRIAL/COST? ill have my makeup trial on the day I do m engagement shoot so March 9th. The trial is 60. I am paying for my bridesmaids makeup as well as my future mother in law. the makeup artist is coming to the hotel suite for 380 which is a very reasonable price for my area. i also bought a deal for eyelash extensions for 100. My hair is being done my colorist who has become a friend (though not super close) so she’s waiving travel free and charging me 150. I also extended her an invite to the wedding for her and husband. I just ordered human hair extensions for 200 and she will color them to match my hair and cut them to match my natural hair.

This is made me realize how crazy of a January I had. I’m letting myself have a breather before I do anything else. Cake tasting is May 2nd and the cost is included in my wedding package. We booked and gave a down payment for the photobooth, I got a deal at a wedding expo so that’s 995. we also met with and hired our officiant which cost 700.

Wedding are bonkers.

  • I’ve been collecting mason jars and other jars for about a year now.  We will put sea glass, water, and floating candles in some and hydrangeas in others.

  • Scheduled for next month, about 1.5 months beforethe wedding.

  • At the same time we chose a venue.  Doing the Whole Foods route since our flowers and arrangements are pretty simple.  Highly recommend!

Sorry ladies, I too think that putting prices is a little too personal for me, but I think a timeline will be helpful to future bees just as much as pricing! ๐Ÿ™‚
