Fiance and are still a year and change out, but I’ve been wondering WHEN we should do our e-pics. I asked his opinion and the silly boy said a MONTH before the wedding – LOL!! I’m thinking six months out at the latest.
When did you do yours?

wow a month before the wedding is the latest you should do your bridal portraits! usually, e-pics are for personal/family enjoyment and for announcements and so forth and so i would think it would be best to have them done early and in the beginning of planning. my fiance and i got engaged with a long engagement ahead of us because of being in the military and we really wanted to play up being engaged so we had our e-pics done a month after. its a really fun part of being engaged and i couldnt imagine planning a wedding and having a photo shoot in between. maybe thats just me but i would be too distracted and focused on the wedding. plus, we were so excited and happy to be engaged and couldnt wait!
if anything, 6 months out would sound fine but no later. BUT…make sure you research photographers and book a date early!

We made a Shutterfly book with them, used one on our STD cards and will be incorporating a bunch into a slideshow to be looping during the reception.

We got engaged December 2008 and took e-pics in April. We’re a little different though because our friend (who is an aspiring photographer) asked us if he could take our e-pics for his portfolio and website. He did a great job and we LOVE some of the shots he got of us. We’re also using them on our Save-The-Date Cards and on our wedding website. Fiance and I are thinking of taking another set of e-pics since our session was more of a “mock” session. We only took pics at one location and didn’t have too much variety in terms of scenery and background. We’d love to take some shots at the beach next time! If we do take another set, we’ll try to get them done sometime in autumn, before it gets too cold (cold as in low 60s at the beaches, HAHA)!

We just took ours Thursday (yay! Can’t wait to get them back!) which is 10 1/2 months out. I wanted to get them done so we could have them for various things throughout the year!
Plus, we’re using them for our guest book and STDs!

We did ours about 4 months before the wedding. It was pretty good timing for us because there wasn’t a lot of other stuff going on then. I think any time between when you get engaged and up to 3-4 months before the wedding is good. If you do it too close it could get stressful with all of the other wedding stuff going on.
