I was twenty-one. I’ve started going gray fairly quickly, really.

I was nineteen. It happened pretty quickly for me as well. They are mostly around my hairline, so it’s more noticeable when my hair is up. I used to dye it about once a year (when I went home for the holidays & got my early cut, I know, that’s bad) but now that the wedding is fast approaching I’ve been dying it more often. I went in August to an Aveda Salon and the color lasted about 3 weeks and didn’t cover my grays very well. I’m going in a few weeks to the girl that’s doing my hair for my wedding. I’m really hoping she can get better coverage.

Do you ladies dye at all?

I was 23. I’m 25 now and have at least 100 grays! I will say though that I was a blonde before 23 and only started noticing them when I dyed my hair dark brown, so it’s probable I started greying well before then. My mom is 57 and has almost no grey. My dad didn’t gret until his 40’s. *sigh* bad luck! So you are not alone!

Wow. That many people already? What about poll options for the same age groups that haven’t found any grey yet? I’m in my early 30s, and thus far no grey…

I was a youngling too. I had my first colony of greys at 22. I actually think they look pretty cool. My hair is dark too, except those rebel greys. I dye every once in a while, but I don’t mind my minions.

I’m almost 27, and don’t think I have any grey hairs yet.  My mom’s 53 and has like 6, while my grandmother on my father’s side was salt and pepper in her early 30s.  FI started turning grey around 23.

They’ve been popping up, just a few every now and then, since I was a teenager. I’m always so confused when a woman in her thirties gets her first grey and freaks the shit out. I just always find it hard to believe that person has never had a grey hair before.

No grey yet for me (I’m 32) but my SO is very salt and pepper and he is only 25! I think its hot on him though. He has very dark (almost black) hair and I think that is a factor.

My mother is 63 and only has a few scattered ones, so I think it will be a while for me.

Not yet (I’m 27), but I’m very curious about this!! My dad is 55 and has no gray hair. My grandma actually doesn’t have gray hair either (I don’t really believe her, but we’ve stared at her roots and never see any gray). I’m hoping I have their genes, because my mom was gray by 30.

I got my first greys (white is more like it) in my early teens, but it was no biggie. It kind of runs in the family. Now in my mid thirties, my brunette has gone platinum which is a little weird and unexpected (people ask where I get it done, it looks that artificial), but I was always a lighter brunette with ash highlights. My sis, about the same shade but with golden highlights is very obviously gray as was my mom, so maybe that matters.

The thing that shocked me was when I found my first white pube in my mid-twenties. So shocked. I don’t know why, but that had just never occurred to me. O_O

Now the thing I find sometimes is the ends are white and the roots come in dark, like they’ve turned the pigment on again. I didn’t know that happened.

I have no idea if I would have any.  I do dye it myself every 2-3 months, so I don’t know if that covers it up or not.  I’ve never noticed any I guess, and I’m 28.  Fiance is almost 29 though, and he has a few.

Believe it or not I was 19!  I was a bit devastated, but then just plucked that little sucker out!

I’m almost 28, and thankfully, no grays yet. My Fiance on the other hand has about 15-20 white hairs, which he’s had for about 2ish years now. He’s been going white since 24! I call him grandpa sometimes because of it.

None so far! Although I am blonde, so I doubt I would even notice until there are TONS.
